Subject: cut an arm?

Fetito ( ) posted Sat, 03 September 2011 at 7:47 PM · edited Fri, 10 January 2025 at 4:17 PM

hello poser-friends!

  1. is it possible to cut off an arm from a 3d-character-model so that it looks like a crippled wounded arm? (this is no joke)

  2. can i do this inside of poser or do i have to modify the model in programs such as 3ds max?

  3. does this have influence on the rigging system?

thanks in advance and have a nice weekend!

Each body part on Poser figures can be hidden. At most, you'd have to model the innards, i.e. bones, guts, etc.

And doing it that way would also keep the rigging the same.

There is a new product by the vendor VNLM at Renderotica that may be what you're looking for.  Look for VNLM's Amputation V4.

You could also use trans maps to do it if you want to go in the middle of as body part (like half a forearm)  though dynamic clothing covering such will need special care. Also with either method there will be a hole in the arm. If it shows, you'll need something to fill it.

YOU ROCK! thanks you all for your help! i will check out your advises.

anyway, i know how to handle software such as maya.

  1. is it possible to import the poser model into maya to edit the poser model there? i want to create a bleeding crippled arm inside of  maya.

  2. is it later possible to re-import it back to poser without messing up the rigging and texture  structure?

  1. what about zbrush for adding scars and wounds?
