Thought I'd start a new Alyson2 tribute thread. She needs some clothes though, but  I like her. The face room which I used on her this time, was a lot easier to use. I had problems with the P8 Face Room so i avoided it.

estherau ( ) posted Thu, 22 September 2011 at 2:04 AM

she's weight mapped isn't she?  can't you just copy the figure setup into clothing in a click or two?

I haven't tried but i had the impression this would work somehow.

She's got weird elbows on that pic.. May be the pose though. When I tried her, I noticed she doesn't take canned poses well, not even the ones included

This figure is weight map and Teyon has said that she has some different topology so that affects the poses. She has none of her own.

I ran Hongyu's Jersey Dress through the Wardrobe Wizard., but I'm not happy with the say it came out.

Teyon ( ) posted Thu, 22 September 2011 at 5:27 AM

Darrell got rid of the buttocks actor if I recall correctly, so that is the major change to the topology. Just throwing that out there. :)

Dizzi ( ) posted Thu, 22 September 2011 at 5:42 AM

No buttocks, but a pelvis actor added (which can be controled from the hip).

Teyon ( ) posted Thu, 22 September 2011 at 5:51 AM

Yes, he did that to add more functionally to posing that region of the body. So that's another major change also.

EClark1894 ( ) posted Thu, 22 September 2011 at 6:02 AM

Teyon do you know then if you have to tell Wardrobe Wizard to reanalyze the Alyson 2 figure? I remember you saying that Darrell was changing things right up to the end. I'm getting some wierd pop up messages about joints.

Teyon ( ) posted Thu, 22 September 2011 at 6:20 AM

That may be the case. I don't know. He was definitely working on her up until the last week. So uh, yeah, I don't know how well she works with WW. Phil may be able to answer that or say what needs to be done to get things on her.

LaurieA ( ) posted Thu, 22 September 2011 at 6:25 AM

OMG..I think that figure is hideous. Sorry guys. I know some of you like her but I think she looks like an alien..lol. The shoulders and elbows look "wrong" as does the face. I can't think of one reason I'd use her.

I'm not trying to be a bitch, just stating an opinion..lol. Ya'll know I love Poser ;). But the figures not so much...lol.

IMVHO, they should have stuck with Jesse and James who were probably the two best looking ones in recent years other than the Poser 4 people.

Teyon ( ) posted Thu, 22 September 2011 at 6:29 AM

I should explain - this go around, I had even less interaction with Alyson and Ryan than I did with P8. Mostly because Darrell and I were dealing with very different problems in regards to getting the new rig tools to work and so we kind of concentrated on our own projects. Usually what happens,  is that there's some interaction between us during each stage of figure development (with P8 I was brought on at the end). This just wasn't possible this go around, so I really don't know what all was done to her or how best to work with her. I just got a few emails on some of the changes he'd done and that's it.  It may well be that the joint transfer system is the way to go for getting clothes on her or it may be that there's a way to get Wardrobe Wizard to work with her, I'm just not the guy to really ask. Sorry, I wish I could be of more help in that sense. Hell, I haven't even USED the joint transfer system yet, lol.

Everyone has a right to their opinion Laurie, no need to apologize. :) Believe me, Darrell is well aware of some of the community's opinion of the P8 figures.

Sorry, the face on this Alyson is a morph I did in the face room. I think she looks kinda cute. As for Jessie, I've used her in my web comic, but frankly, I think she has a big head.

Well, I'm doing another conversion right now. I did two things different this time, so we'll see. I forced a figure reanalysis, and something i didn't see before, but this time I clicked on the Weight map transfer button.

Nah EClark, wasn't talking specifically about your face morph ;). I think she looks bad on loading...lol. No offense to you ;). I hate saying stuff like that cause it sounds like I'm bashing the modeler (at least it sounds like it to me...lol). I admire anyone that can model a human, even a bad one because I wouldn't even know where to start and anything I could make would be, oh, a whole lot worse...lol.

Well, while do agree with you about how she looks on loading, the thing is you don't have to use her that way. She's very morphable. I've heard people say the same thing about V4 and V3 for that matter. I think 3 Dream does some great characters for her face. Hmmm, come to think of it, I wonder if the old morphs are usable on the new face?

No they don't work on the Alyson two figure, unfortunately. But this is what I wished Alyson would look like on loading. In fact, I might just save this as my default figure.

Not without some fiddling. While the geometry is the same in the head, the default posture of Alyson 2 is slightly different than Alyson 1, so the head would be offset if you try to apply an Alyson 1 head morph to Alyson 2. And I seem to recall that the vertex order is slightly different - or something else that causes "cratering" when the morph is applied.

Played with Alyson 2 some more today. Actually, it's Maria 2, but anyway, wanted to check out some extreme bending poses for her. Here she is literally bending over all the way back. Don't know if you can see it, but this causes a small break in her back. Circled. Still other than that...

Sam needs Therapy.![](http://www.renderosity.com/mod/forumpro/art/emoticons/lol.gif)  More contortioning for Alyson. Just out of curiosity has anybody with both D4 and Poser 9 tried to export Alyson into DS4 to see how DS handles her?

Diogenes ( ) posted Fri, 23 September 2011 at 7:13 PM

They do bend so very much better, they have done a great job with the rigging and mapping I am happy to see the improvements.

Yes they are so very ugly, But as Eclark1894 pointed out, that is all morphable. It can all be easily changed. The rigging is not so easy to change. So I am happy they took the time and effort to make the figures bend more like a human. Perhaps next time they will work on better looking figures and all will be good, yes?

I am still on Poser 8, for now... but I have to agree, Alyson is ugly upon loading her. I hope that 3Dream redoes his morphs so they work on Alyson2.

Anyhow, those of you who have gotten P9 or Pro2012, are any other characters redone for this version? I am wondering most about Sydney and Simon.

I think that may be pushing it way beyond it's boundaries...her buttocks are completely misshapen. Personally, this would never pass muster for me for any image I would do ;). Rather than make an argument for why ppl should use her, you're illustrating the very reasons a lot of us don't use her.

She has limits, I'm testing them. and I doubt very much she could do this before. I'm pretty sure V4 couldn't and people still used her. Want me to whip up a quick V4 pose as a comparison?

EClark1894 ( ) posted Sat, 24 September 2011 at 3:53 AM

Sorry, didn't mean to snap. But i am just testing the limits to what she can do. That's why i call these extreme poses. I want to see how far she goes before she breaks.  In the render above. Her mesh actually holds up pretty good, it's her clothing that's not behaving well. I doubt it received the same kind of care she did when it was converted.

Yeah, the poses are pretty extreme, and it's highly unlikely that we would ever use something like that, unless you are rendering a circus scene...

Only a small percentage of the population can actually bend like that anyhow. It's something you have to train your body to do from a young age.
