I got one as well. Just saved the numbers for now...

There were 2 lists to get serial related emails today - one that needed new serials due to a duplicate serial mistake, and one that didn't need to get the email but got it anyway with the serials they already had. I apologize for the confusion. If you received the 'oops' email, you were just reissued the serials you already had. If you ever have a concern about the legitimacy of something from Smith Micro, the best thing to do is contact us directly at cs@smithmicro.com. Not sure why gmail would question the origin of the email, but yes, it did come from us - my apologies again for the confusion! -Tori Porter, Smith Micro

Hi all
Well I got the email can somebody explain what it means?
We recently discovered a problem in our online store where duplicate serial numbers were issued to a group of customers on their orders of Poser Pro 2012. We've identified you as someone who was affected by that problem and we've gone ahead and issued you a new unique serial number set.
I had no problem loading my new software?
It seems to work fine.
Will it stop working if I don't apply new code?
Is somebody on planet Earth now using the same software number as I had originally been issued.
Sorry Guys NO COMPRENDO!!
Chill, Saibabmeuk. It's all good. If you need to, put in the new numbers - so when you download service packs, they're happy. But if you don't get a notice saying "hang on, you're actually all good, our error", then don't worry about it and keep rendering.

And therefore, if I did not receive emails, I can sleep well, right?
Bye!!!
GIMP 2.7.4, Inkscape 0.48, Genetica 3.6 Basic, FilterForge 3 Professional, Blender 2.61, SketchUp 8, PoserPro 2012, Vue 10 Infinite, World Machine 2.3, GeoControl 2
I got the email but when I checked the 'new serial numbers' were indentical to those I was already using. I sent an email to cs@smithmicro.com querying this and had a very quick response apologising and confirming that my original serial numbers were valid. This was followed by the second email saying I had been sent the first in error.
No problems, still rendering fine and enjoying this new toy that SM has provided for us and boy am I happy with it.
I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 - Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU . The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.
I got the email but didn't get an oops email. I tried to update with the new serial number but it won't take it. I think it wants me to enter my previous serial number, but it won't allow me to even put my cursor in that field. When I first installed the program, that field was inaccessable as well. However, it accepted the first serial number they gave me with the previous serial number field blank.
Anyone else have this issue?
If you went for the upgrade I think the "previous serial number" is the serial number of the program you are upgrading from, such as Pro 2010. I know I had the same issue when I first installed Pro 2012 but assumed that the previous field is inaccessable as the serial number was used when the upgrade was ordered.
I just entred the new serial number issued with Pro2012 and everything has been fine so far.

I just got this, but gmail indicates it may not actually be from smithmicro.com. Anybody else get this and/or know if it is legit. I'd ask at smithmicro.com, but getting an aswer here is almost always much faster.
