Subject: Removing morphs

Hello,

i was wondering what is a good simple program to remove morphs from an outfit?

I tried Morph manager, but it doesn't remove them all, if you select the entire gown pants etc. there are still morphs. does anyone know a program that might remove them?

                    Thank you!

I've been rather lucky with Poser File Editor by Dimension3D... an essential tool for anyone making things for Poser (as you do make some incredibly wonderful things, Arah!!) and really, a total bargain for what you get.

Ockham has a script called strip zero morphs I believe. Never tried it

The hard way is to select them one by one in the properties pallet and delete each one you don't want.

'Morph Manager 4' will remove all the morphs (targetGeom channels) from a figure. First load any pz2 file (this creates a "More Options" button), then load your figure into the same window. Click the More Options button, then select "Delete all morph targets from file", it will delete all the morph channels from the figure. What it won't do is to delete any valueParm (FBM) channels, you will have to go into the BODY and delete those manually.

With Morph Manager 4, If you use the trick of loading a pose first, you will be able to see all the channels in the BODY actor and delete any of them.

Morph Manager 4, isn't really a good way to do that part though, as it's hard to tell what is or is not a valueParm channel. Better to use a Poser file editor like the free "CR2Builder", or "CR2 Editor", or one of the commercial ones like the ones by Dimension 3D, or PhilC.

Will any of those CR2 editors work for clothing models and hair figures and props as well? I have been purchasing hair models recently and they all have ridiculously large file size, and I would like to use CR2 editor to reduce their filesize by removing non-essential morphs.

CR2Builder can certainly handle conforming clothing and conforming or prop hair. I should think that they all can, I would be very surprised if any of them can't, but as CR2Builder is the one I use, so It's the only one I can vouch for from personal experience. Check out the links for D3D and PhilC, I'm sure the info on what file types they handle will be there. As for CR2 Editor, it's free, so try it and see.

Pocket Knife by PhilC lets you remove morphs from the Body and all body parts using a checklist. It also does a lot of other cool utility stuff. It's python-based, but he has updated it to work in Poser 9 / Pro 2012.

If you do a Google search for "PhilC Pocket Knife" you'll find his web site.
