Ray trace shadow is good, but it takes more time to render, so I tried depth map shadow. But as you can see on the right, there is an area at the top part should be in shadow, but it got light, looks like there is a break to let the light goes in.

I turn the bias to 0, and got this result, did I miss something? 😕

I use 1 IBL with AO, 1 infineti light, poser pro.

Depth mapped shadow isn't as accurate as ray traced shadow. You can improve the depth mapped shadows by using a bigger shadow map, the default is pretty low, still the ray traced variant will be more correct.

The trade off is always going to be quality versus time.  I see no good reason for using depth mapped shadows if you want a decent image.

Thank you both of you. I just hope to use less time to render but still got a good  quality.😄

like samtherapy said, there is always a tradeoff between quality:time.  people these days really dont have much to complain about since not that long ago features we already take for granted such as IDL took days to render with software/hardware that most of us couldnt afford.

if rendertime is an issue for you, then simply set up your render via fast preview renders, and then when you are ready to hit the hay render it with the high production settings. who cares whether it takes 15 minutes or 2 hours to render if you are asleep --  i assume you sleep longer than that :)

That's what I use all of the time.  But I also have ray tracing and "cast shadows" checked in the rendoer options. I use Pose 6
