Very nice work indeed!

The face looks awesome. A new GND? Great news indeed, and I'm sure I will get this set when it hits the market. I got nearly all characters you published, back to the original GND set and Ki, I surely won't miss that one.

Quote - I don't demand pretty. However, I would at least like them to look human.

It helps when you wanna render a human that they, yanno...look human. Gabe's morph is as human as I've ever seen her look. Yeah, she's pretty, but that's beside the point.

Laurie

It helps but it's not essential.  We're supposed to be "artists". At least that's the cry I hear every time someone claims that Poser users aren't. Michaelanglo made Venus out of a rock. People paint beauty on blank canvases with only their imagination. But you can't be bothered to work with a figure because you don't think she's already pretty enough.

Okay, sorry, don't mean to be contentious.

But here's the thing for me. Granted, she's not the pretty out of the box, so to speak, but as even you have admitted after seeing Blackhearted and 3Dream work with her, she can be. I'm not a morpher, or a texturer, but I'm learning, and working with Alyson is really helping me stretch my creative horizons.

the problem is that several of the issues with her are far beyond the casual user's abilities to fix  (her feet and hands, for example).

And Alyson isn't the only figure I use. I mainly use V4 for now, but will eventually move on to others like Antonia, but I find Alyson interesting to learn with.

Well, you certainly are entitled to your opinion EClark ;). I'm glad someone finds her useful cause I think the majority of Poser users that know of the Daz figures do not....lol. But, I'm cool with whatever you do.

As for morphing and stuff, I certainly do make morphs and I don't make bad ones either if I do say so myself, but if I'm not interested in a figure to begin with, I'll never start...lol. There has to be something there that drags me in and the Poser figures don't do it for me. At least, not the Poser 8+ figures :).

Quote - Blackhearted: oh, all ill add about her body is that while she is still unmistakably a 'GND',  she should easier to adapt to different characters.  ie: if you wanted to add 10-15lbs of fat, or muscle, it would be a breeze.  the anatomy from head to toe is fixed and it should be a very versatile starting point where, if they want, people can focus on squishing her into what they like rather than being totally hampered by underlying mesh/anatomy issues.

.... and to put a cherry on top, she'll be getting some top notch clothing ;)

Quote - Carodan A potential problem for SM now though is that if the apparent divergence of Daz content and Poser continues, then they will need to really up their game in provision of native Poser figures, or at least offer support to one or two of the third party developers who have sought to provide the kind of quality that I think Poser users are looking for. We have Antonia and phantom3d's rigging & figures developing in the wings, but even these efforts IMO require an additional input to bring them up to par with the potential of even V4's morphing capabilities (let alone what Genesis can do in DS, which I have to say looks awesome). I'd like to see these projects prosper with te help of SM rather than them churning out sub-standard figures in each iteration of the software. It's a waste of resources IMO. Why not take a little more time and develop a truly great figure/s, or support someone else in doing so.

This is just my opinion btw. Make of it what you will.

Blackhearted, I do have one question though. Are these improvements, morphs for the base figure or did you just modify the base figure itself?

Blackhearted ( ) posted Mon, 12 December 2011 at 12:32 PM

its the Alyson 2 mesh completely custom morphed - even little things like the lacrimals, cuticles, eyelashes, etc.  there are thousands of little fixes - im not exaggerating when i say ive moved pretty much every single vertice :)

JCMs were also added to her joints for better bending.

she should be available this Friday.

I just saw this in the store, you've done are really great job with her. If you're talking how to showcase Poser's new features, I think this is how it's done... all other talk that's been done is simply playing.

Hope vendors take notice and make some lovely clothing specifically for your work.

Great job!

I don't do a lot of female renders, but if did I would definitely looking in to using her. Definitely a lot of care and effort went into taking her from her default form to this.

thanks :)

"Hope vendors take notice and make some lovely clothing specifically for your work."

there are a handful of talented vendors who have been working hard on clothing for her for a couple of weeks now.   ive also got a few items done myself - they are just still in the conforming stage so will be at least a week till theyre done.  im currently dying of the flu so im not sure how much work ill be able to get done this weekend :(

i also have a custom morph for the excellent Alanis Hair by Fabiana - which i used in my promos - but i still need to figure out a way to inject it so that i can include it in the pack. the chopsticks i made for the promos are in there though.

cheers,

I think you did definitely a miracle, Gabe :)

Is almost incredible to think the comparisson between the base figure and what you did... I am convinced that SM should hire you over any other option in the whole world to make us a REAL and accurated figure to work with. I would be the first in the line to clap and applaude if they do that. You deserve all the fireworks this year's end :)

Chapeau, Monsieur :)

Hi, and awesome job on this character! Always wanted Irina, but did not have sp3, but no such excuses here!

For clothes not modeled for her, as mentioned above, would a WW2 and Morphing Clothes option work?

For example, take a Vicki outfit, WW2 it to Alyson2, then Morphing Clothes it to Anastasia?  (hoping at that point it would not be too auto-mangled)

no idea - i dont use WW.

but if someone has a piece of clothing they want to convert to GND Anastasia, i will gladly help morph the base to fit her. within reason of course - if i get totally bogged down morphing everyones clothes and dont have time to do my own work, then ill have to stop - but if i have the time ill gladly help.

LaurieA ( ) posted Fri, 16 December 2011 at 7:44 PM

IF Wardrobe Wizard allows you to add the morph to the clothes, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.

Just a first round conversion done solely in Wardrobe Wizard ... the morphs on the "Gladiator" for V4 were analyzed first, and then I only selected to transfer the GND Anastasia morph to the clothing.

I'm still experimenting with this and will try a couple more outfits. If you can think of a nice V4 outfit to try let me know.

Also have Morphing Clothes but have to run a question or two past Ralf.

How well does Anastasia Bend?

I read about some JCMs for muscle movement and better bending, are those going to complicate things for rigging clothing for her?  How easy is it for content creators to make stuff for the custom shape?

I'm just curious because I have played with rigging conversions for Antonia~WM and she is an absolute breeze without having any(or very few) JCMs to worry about.

file_476401.jpg

she didnt need *that* many JCMs.  her weight mapped rig was pretty solid to begin with.

a few are just fine joint smoothing/tweaks and shouldnt affect clothing. the only ones which will need to specifically be mirrored in clothing are the bicep flex and calf flex JCMs.  as an alternative the clothing creator can simply turn off those JCMs -- but theyre pretty straightforward to fit so there shouldnt be much extra work and the results are worth it.  there are also some extra morphs in there which should enhance clothing creation: like a high heel morph and a Wonderbra morph.

I'm in the middle of conforming some clothing for Gabe;s new lady, finished a shirt and only had to add 2 JCM's, as he said to compensate for the bicep flex and touch up the elbows for some poke thru and fit. I aldo had to touch up the weight mapping since it didn;t bend exactly like I wanted and had a few ripples. Really, really easy, about 1/2 or less the time I would spend on an older confromer.

I've also started on a skirt and I have to say that while there are more JCM;s there it;smore because of the peculiarity of a confroming skirt than anything to do with the JCM;s in Anastasia.

There are calf flex morphs which does add to a realistic high heel look but normally pants probably won;t need to be adjusted unless the are tight fitting and then it;s only one morph for each leg. The body is a custom morph so clothing really needs to be modelled to is (IMO) to get teh best effect, unfortunatly there aren;t any simple dial twists. Not sure about WW or morphcloth tho, those willneed to be tried as I see Deecey is doing.

All tolled this is a much easier figure to fit than V4!

I haven;t worked with either Antonia version yet, soI can;t really compare the two at this time.

I'm off to bed but I'll try and get at least a preliminary render up some time this week end.

I see that you are working on conforming clothing for Anastasia, and perhaps you wouldn't mind answering a question or two about the process.

I'm still fairly new to doing conformers and all, and I had learned how to do the capsule method reasonably well.

I do see that creating a donor CR2 from Anastasia (a CR2 saved with her morphs) puts me into weight-mapping, which I have no experience with--and need to learn to do.

So... does one do an Alyson2 donor CR2 and then add Anastasia morphs instead? I'm at a bit of a loss.

Well, as I'm fond of reminding everyone, Anastasia IS Alyson2. As far as I know, Blackhearted didn't re-rig Alyson, just morphed her, so an Alyson cr2 should suffice for the rigging. Then you'll have to add the Anastasia morphs.

Over the holidays, I played around a little more with Alyson2 (since I can't afford Anastastia at the moment).
