Subject: Semi transparent cloth over skin -> spots?

Hi everyone, I stumbled over this problem numerous times. When I have a clothing that fits without poke through and apply some transparency to it, I get strange spots and it looks like wet cloth sticking directly to the skin in some areas. But the cloth has no real thickness and the distance to the skin is pretty big. What is causing this and how can I get rid of it?

EDIT: Ok, I just figured out that reducing Shadow Min Bias for my main light from 0.8 to 0.02 fixed it.

Glad you solved it - was about to tell you exactly that.

Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

Of course, thank you, BB!

A couple comments:

  1. You can exploit this effect artistically if you are modeling damp/wet clothing, since the darker areas will look like water trapped against the skin. (Or, if underwater, air trapped against the skin.)

  2. For very close-fitting clothing the simplest thing to do (often) is uncheck "cast shadows". Frankly, the difference in the shadow cast by a naked figure vs. one wearing a bodystocking is pretty slight, especially if there is any shadow blur.
