a handful of hotfixes to small issues that may affect some users.  I've tested the crap out of her but since a lot of people are using her now I have been made aware of a few minor glitches. it includes a handful of tweaks like organization of the head morphs.
MAT tweaks - the SSS scale and Tex Detail were swapped accidentally on the TAN mats. etc.

the second, BONUS file is getting some more free poses/lights/cameras like the ones i just posted.

i have a basic lingerie set ('hanes' type tank and panties) done that is intended for freestuff. i just havent had the time to conform it yet.

the filename with 121901 (BH_GND_Anastasia_121901.zip)is just the rosity product number AFAIK.
but since i dont see what you see, i need to confirm with the staff that the update was 'marked' as updated and downloads were reset.  its the holidays and they are running on a skeleton crew right now so stuff sometimes takes awhile to happen :P

Yokasobi ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 1:49 PM

Cool tank. I'm assuming that's the one you're talking about in the basic lingerie set?

I got one update where the morphs were fixed and stayed in categories.   I don't think there was anything else updated in that right?   Now there's been another update?   And there will be a third with the additional cameras/lights/poses?   Or just the latter?

I went and saw so many updates to older products I had never been notified of.   Those that were not from this year I didn't even bother with but it is appreciated to be notified.   I don't know why any paying customer would find this annoying and give you trouble but yeah there have always been and always be people with major issues :)

ETA:  Now I see Gabe's post, must have had this page open for some time, disregard the questions.

Blackhearted ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 2:28 PM

in retrospect i probably shouldnt have even said anything till now :P

so, before people get the impression that there have been a million updates and the product wasnt tested properly, let me clarify:

hundreds of people are using Anastasia. one customer brought up one issue that noone else encountered - not myself, nor the store testers. there was a dead file association in one of the shaders for a disconnected shadernode, and that one person was getting a file not found error. i tried to reproduce his error on three different comps and couldnt reproduce it. nevertheless, i fixed it, and issued an invisible hotfix.

since then looking at peoples renders and stuff, ive hotfixed a few other little things like that. reorganized the head morphs, etc. found a minor issue with the SSS scale on the tan node. small stuff that probably 99% of people wont even notice.

now that i have several of these little 'tweaks' uploaded, im going to add some more bonus content and notify buyers that there is an 'official' product update out.

'Cool tank. I'm assuming that's the one you're talking about in the basic lingerie set?'

yep, that will be a freebie and ill have something more elaborate later

Ana's ears are already a bit elvish in the lobe area. I'm sure someone will pull the tops of her ears out in an elegant manner and offer a morph.

Very nice! I'd go with whatever anyone threw at me, especially since I won't be using the full Anastasia for Poser 2009 for a while yet.

Anastasia's face is actually quite similar generally to Todd Lockwood's Dungeons and Dragons illustrations of elves and half elves. :D

You know, I really loved the Silo trial. I may have to revisit that. As I recall, the proportional editing was most awesome. I have other programs that will do it like Blender and Hexagon, but compared to those two, Silo is very uncluttered. Not expensive either. Hmmm.....

"Oh, honey?!!......"

But alas, no budget in the world for ZBrush...lol. I really should get off my duff and learn Sculptris.

packaging them up now. you can dial the morph down a bit to get the stubbier elf ears.

imax24 ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 5:24 PM

Ana looks very natural as a fae... or a Vulcan. Nice job on the ears.

Still waiting for the GNDA update to click over from 12/19 to 12/30.

Gabe, if we want a blonde or redhead Anastasia, what can we do about her black eyebrows? (Fortunatelly that's the only, um, body hair we have to worry about.) Since you presumably have her eyebrows separate from the skin texture, maybe you could include a Photoshop layer with just her eyebrows in a later package? You could even color them yourself if you want. :)

I know it sounds very demanding... that's what you get for being so responsive and accommodating. Give 'em an inch...

some more variations/makeups/extra morphs/etc will undoubtedly be in an add-on pack down the road.

right now im working on expressions, followed by clothing.  perhaps ill put something in the expression pack. i do know there are other merchants working on character packs for her.

yeah i dont think the update is live yet -- i havent been able to get ahold of the staff. theyre not 'officially' in the office till the 3rd, so anything that gets done until then is like a xmas present, lol.

Excellent!  Thank you very much.

It is pretty neat how you have single handedly created so much interest into what was a dead figure.  Excellent!

imax24 ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 6:21 PM

Now that I have a use for Alyson, and it doesn't involve 95% of her dials, is there any harm in just removing them from the GNDA character? It would cut down on the overhead in the scene tremendously to get rid of all those wasted morphs sitting there. Are ANY of the non-DNDA dials required other than the rotation and translation dials? The ones that must remain but will never be used, I'd just hide.

brynna ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 6:24 PM

What I'd like to see (eventually) is someone give Ana vampire fangs. She'd make one helluva vampire bride.

all of the ones that are absolutely necessary will be injected with the GNDA PMD. so if you dont need a bunch of Alyson's base FBMs/morphs, you could make a stripped down Alyson CR2 and resave it as 'Alyson Lite'.

So none of YOUR dials, now or later, are controlling any of Alyson's dials (other than rotation). If I were to remove, say, all of her mouth morphs (which don't work quite right with Anastasia anyway) your expressions would still work?

Blackhearted ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 6:43 PM

Alyson 2's mouth morphs dont work quite right period.  which is why i am making all new custom expression dials.  and no i dont use any existing dials - its easier for me to just make new ones exactly the way i want them.

the existing Alyson 2 dials can be feathered to get many expressions. but if someone just cranks them to 1.0, they look bad - as do the expression morphs of just about every character ive ever used.

I seem to have no success trying dynamic tops for Anastasia. I have tried some adapted from V3 and now from TG's top. They all rise up around the neck and give her some sort of hunch back. Any ideas? I have PP2011 with the service pack. I have tried to attach an image as illustration.

^offhand that almost looks like youre using the hair as a collision object.  cloth shouldnt be set to collide with the hair.

LaurieA ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 7:08 PM · edited Fri, 30 December 2011 at 7:12 PM

Yeah, don't collide with the hair. Only the figure...and even then, not the head. It's a short sleeved top, so you can remove the forearms, thighs, shins and feet. And you can even remove the hands if they aren't going to touch the top at all.

I've never been able to figure out how to remove body parts from a clothing figure when the author starts with a full body worth of joints and forgets to remove the unneeded ones. I have seen the whole body down to the toes in a conforming necklace, and wished I could delete all but neck and chest without wrecking the product. :-D

Yokasobi ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 8:15 PM

Toggle visibility on the body part, or change the material zone to 0% opacity. ;)

Some clothes work better than others.

imax24 ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 8:34 PM

Extra body parts in clothing are already invisible, with no mats. But I don't want to sidetrack the thread on that. The update is showing up!

meatSim ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 8:47 PM

I think that can be done in the setup room, or by editing the CR2.

You don't make the parts invisible nor change the materials...lol. You change what to collide against in the collisions panel (panel #2 in the cloth room I think - I don't have Poser open). You can choose to collide against an entire figure, or parts thereof ;). If I wasn't so pooped out by company, I'd be more inclined to make a screen shot...lol.

Here:

If you click on Add/Remove you get a choice of ALL these checkboxes. If they're checked and you don't want the cloth to collide, uncheck it. If you want it to collide and it's not checked, check it. Etc ;). Panel 2: Cloth Objects. You'll need to have the cloth object selected.

I was poking around to see what was available for Alyson2, and came across the [3Dream Face morphs](http://www.arrow3d.com/3Dream-FreeFaceMorphs.htm).  The 1st morphs listed I thought was really good (not to mention the rest are good!), so I dropped it on Alyson2 with GDNA's bod and it came out quite nice!  Only issue is the Head/Neck seam does not fit as well, but easily smoothed with the morph tool, but that seam gave the overall skin mapping a little fit, that I postworked a little.  Nice results, I thought!  (a little OT, unless you consider this Clothing her face?)  :)

This was using the Alyson material & Snarlygribbly's EZ Skin.

As a subjective reviewer on the new WW Anastasia update, it seems to do a better job, at least in the 1st case I tried, which was a problem spot along the pants waistline.  Seen here is the same pants that I posted on page 3 of this thread (Dark Raven for V4).  You can see there and further below on that page that some conversions had trouble at that spot.  This seems to have been remedied with the new release, sample above!  Kudos to PhilC!

Only thing I was not sure about was the baking instructions, if I was supposed to have external morphs on or off when saving the CR2?  What I did worked, so I must have chosen....wisely. (external)

imax24 ( ) posted Fri, 30 December 2011 at 11:36 PM · edited Fri, 30 December 2011 at 11:41 PM

WW doesn't always nail it exactly. Sometimes you need to tweak a little with a PBM or the Morph Brush, and then create a new Anastasia FBM (in Poser, not WW) with the tweak included.

In this case it's a little loose on the hips, so if there's no Hip Size morph in the reborn pants, I'd use the Morph Brush to work around the upper edge of the pants and make the waistline a little more snug. As for the jaggy area at the thigh joints, that should be fixable by smoothing with the Morph Brush.

VonCroy ( ) posted Sat, 31 December 2011 at 3:41 AM

I've found that if you add hair to a scene with a dynamic item it's normally gonna get added as a collision object...lol. That why I go in and check the collision objects one more time before I run a simulation :P.

LaurieA ( ) posted Sat, 31 December 2011 at 8:01 AM · edited Sat, 31 December 2011 at 8:02 AM

well, it's always a good idea to check your collisions once again before a sim...sometimes if you add anything it will be checked as a collision object. And even if, for instance, the head is turned off you'd wanna turn off the eyeballs, teeth and tongue too ;). I've had some weird things going on in the cloth room in my travels....lol. Weird magnetic attractions to the face with high collars only to find it's pulling toward the figure's teeth :P I really love dynamics but it can be quirky...lol.
