xfrog are great, but really very expensive, if you have the time, you may as well buy the program and make your own. you could also go the other program which name eludes me, ebonytree or something?
there are some on c3d that are pretty solid too, i like jan walter schlierp(? sorry i dont know how to spell that) stuff.

as an addition, youll only get variable trees via solidgrowthe models
as far as im aware, these are only available on c3d..
vue will however add differenes to each of the instances, but if its not a solidgrowth, this will just be scale and rotation.

Thanks, I am playing with a trial version of XFrog, and like being able to manually vary their base models (trees in the open grow very different from trees in a forest and I can build in that variation). Onyxtree is another procedural modeler, but it is more expensive that XFrog (currently on sale) and at least I know what I am getting with XFrog because of the free 30 day trial.
onyx tree thats the one! knew it was a black stone thing!
I got xfrog modeller, cant say ive had much use out of it (other stuff came up) but its very good when I do try use it.

I just ran the installer this morning, if you unzip the whole installer file the setup file will not work. You have to open the zipped file in your zip utility and run the setup file from within your zip utility. Strange but true.

Thanks, i`m using Izarc which has always worked well, but when I just open the zip to run the exe its not showing the exe. I had sent an email to the xfrog people but no reply. makes me wonder when a company doesnt reply about a trial, would i be able to get support. Wonder if I bought it if I could even install it, so will pass.

The Vue trees look good at a distance but are not so good up close. CGAxis has some nice ones, but they are fixed models and not variable. I'm looking at XFrog. Any thoughts/suggestions?
