Subject: Importing 3DS Max rigging into Poser

Hi to all,

I need your precious assistance to solve a problem of mine.

Short question: "how can I import into Poser a poseable 3DS Max character, keeping it poseable?"

Long question:

  1. I have found a free 3DS Max humanoid character, complete with textures and rigging. I'd like to use it in Poser.

  2. I know absolutely NOTHING about 3DS Max 2010 (I don't own it) but I have legal access to it through a friend.

  3. I've tried "basic" export of the model to 3DS, DAE and OBJ formats, followed by import into Poser, but obviously I receive only a static mesh.

  4. Is there a way to export the bones so I can pose the model?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Giorgio

Don't think so unless COLLADA can do it.

However this tutorial may help you understand the process better.

Thank you all for your answers.

Unfortunately learning the whole rigging process from zero is beyond my abilities. If exporting the bones is not possible, I'll abandon my idea. Thanks anyway!
