Subject: Vue Fantasy Version Questions

Asked this over at cornucopia and haven't gotten a response yet... maybe  someone here can help:

OK so I was thinking about purchasing this, but after some reading it seems as though very little is included with this package and that you need to buy more additional content. Could anyone please verify that? Because the site says "Hundreds" of items.... so I just want to be sure. I'm not interested in buying TONS of content until I know what I'm doing. Smile

Secondly at the bottom it says: 1920x1200, which is a 10x15cm @ 300DPI.

Is there a way to lift this limit? That is pretty small, I think that translates to about 4x6 inches.

And lastly, it also mentions you can create your own content using something within the software itself... has anyone done this? Can you really model anything? More info on that particular tool would be helpful too!

Thanks so much in advance!

If you plan on buying content from Cornucopia3D, make sure you own a copy of Vue Complete, or better.  History has shown time and time again that owning a lesser version of Vue involves more pain and more money later.

You can create trees and other plants for other Vue users (if they have similar trees and plants already).  And you can create terrains for other Vue users if they have the same grass and dirt and rocks and whatnot as you.  But that is about it as far as modeling from inside Vue goes.  Vue is your end point.  It is where all your models and content goes towards to be rendered, rather than coming from Vue and going to other applications for use.

Here's the exact wording:

Add life to your scenes: load built-in fantasy items, download more from Cornucopia3D or create your own using built-in modeling tools!

To me it sounds like you can "model" your own things as needed?

But I'm not interested in, at least not at this point, in buying tons of content.  :(

You can do some excellent models in Vue if you know what you're doing. Look at Chippwalters page on C3D, if you look at his image "Blood Toys" this was entirely modelled inside Vue 6, the rotary machine you see there is what he modelled using Vue tools inside Vue..

Word of warning, Chipp is a real expert in Vue, I for one could get nowhere near doing what he does with it..

Oh geez, that's amazing.  I find it hard to believe that the $49 Fantasy package is capable of doing something like that.

"Convection Station" is another built entirely in Vue, he even tells you how to make them as well.

As I said though, Chipp is a Vue master..

I'm very new to Vue myself and have not used Vue Fantasy, but you will probably find that you need to invest in several additional modules to get the results that you want, especially if you want larger renders or the ability to import Poser or Daz characters. Ecosystems is another must have. As another user has already said, you would be better off to invest in one of the beter packages like Studio or Complete. In the long run it will save you a lot of money.
