Kinda new to Poser2010. I see where you can import background, but for the life of me I cannot see where to delete it.  Checked the manuel showed ctrl B but that did not delete it just make it invisible. I rendered the scene again and it was back. Also seems as though the background never fits the window. Dumb question??

Good on you for checking the manual - lots of people don't. So, this is good.

When you hit [ctrl] [y] you'll get render settings... on the right-hand side, you'll see, under Options: Render over. Might want to check out that dropdown.

Thing is: that background picture option really isn't the best. I generally use a panorama object and display a picture on this, like in this image:

Seaside

The water is a procedure (shader) on the ground surface - the sky is a picture of a sky on a panorama object.

Its only dumb if you don't ask the question but continue to struggle :)

Go to the Material Room.

In the Object drop down list select "Background"

Select the "BG Picture" node and either delete it or disconnect it from the Background.

Hope that helps.

Back again. Poser2012...Render window is 873 x 844.  Background image is 2600 x 3800... Per attached you can see what happens.  It does not fill up the whole screen.

Daz3 np... Have no clue unless you  cannot use purchased backgrounds in Poser

Your camera focal length... 25? so, wide-angle?

You're best off getting some panorama obj or other plane (cloth_plane in Poser primitives in your props library) to display that image against - you would do this in the material room with a ImageMap node. Then, you can adjust the size (scale) of the plane and also of your camera focal length and have better control over the background image.

You can apply the imagemap in two places in the PoserSurface node: Diffuse_Color and Alternate_Diffuse.

From the output plug on the ImageMap node, just drag a connection to the input for the Diffuse_Color channel - you'll see the little plugs.

Thank you for reply.  I found a wall_plane and applied the back image to that. It worked. Poser2012 is so intimating.. All those settings etc and not knowing what they do except by experiment.  Don't know how long it took everything here to learn everything but I still am in awe... Someone has a question and zap the answer is posted....Right now I'm in Poser kindergarten. Hope to advance to first grade soon LOL

If you use a plane to display your background, use the trechnique Robyn outlined and set your scale x and y according to your pixel resolution of the image, then perform the overall scale.  For example, if your image is 2600x3800, set x scale = 2600 and y scale = 3800.  Rescale your prop until it fits you scene.

Wow, thanks, HBorre! Honestly, I didn't know that one either!

Yes, that avoids distorting the image yet maintains resolution when doing overall final scaling.

All very useful.  Glad someone pointed me to this one.
