Subject: good bat and cave models

Radar_Foxbat ( ) posted Tue, 17 January 2012 at 1:48 AM · edited Thu, 02 January 2025 at 8:31 AM

I'm looking for good bats and cave models for daz, bryce lightwave maya 3d studio. I'm a bat rehabber/researcher and want to create the species we have in the US some 45 and some of the more exotic ones too. I'm writinga book currently and the next one I'd like to add some models to it to show the different species with a cd and have them talk to the audiance telling them their profiles. I've found a few inexpensive ones but they barely look like bats  have found one good one for about 200 bucks a little steep but was produced by a team of people I think one was with light and magic so woule expect it to me pretty high. any help would be greatly apprecieated. limited on funds but need a good model to help me get started morphing it into some real species other than a vampire bat but that would be a start. thanks Bruce in Tulsa

I've created some in crazy talk but want to take it to the next level youtube channel radarfoxbat you can see some I've done. I'm currently working on one for bat conservaiton intenation with animator to have a couple talking 2d is quick adn dirty but not the quality and flexabilty as a 3d graphic. I'm looking at combining google earth screen capturing it as it flies through the grand canyon to bat caves as the background with an animated bat flying the way on top. I believe there is a way using bryce and techtonic satelllite maps from usgs to create actual cgi 3d map models I looked into this in the past but forgot how to do it any links to websites would be appreciated. thanks

I'm only making a movie for BCI if they will give me some final details that I'm needing. I'm just wanting to make educational movies and maybe some fictional stories that I've been working on. making some animated toons. kind of like silverwing but with more realistic animals. If someone needs a model I have about 20 dead bats in my freezer that didn't make it in rehab soon as I learn a little taxidermy I'll sell those to a museum or educational organization those are the only models I would want to sell.

those bats I already have the one realistic bat is workable I was hoping to find one with realistic face, fur color etc. a lot more detail that I can just modify parts of the details.  I'll have to play with this one to see how much detail I can add to it. playing around with adding fur at this time. The Maya book I have for ver 6 has a bat model to play with as well about the same as this bat as a starting point. The cartoon bat I purchased too just to have but he's a little sinister looking I'm trying to make my guys initially good guys.

The caves I think I've covered from the daz library I missed the tropic models those look good I'll probably use those for my background a location. I was wondering if anyone had any additional libraries beside the daz one but since they have 1000's of models figured I would miss some. I'll purchase the tropic models looks like there are 5 sets.

thanks for the links

I would love to have good bat models too.  If you are able to get some morphs, I would be interested in them.

it's my main goal right now I'll probably get the vampire bat since it is an excellent model  and work with it.

I'll contact them to see if they are interested in making a few others for a non profit organization.  hat to spend that much I need the money to finish my 64 bit machine.

I'm building a new 32 bit machine since I thought my old one crashed on me but it started up fine today who new. I'll load 3d studio max, Maya and Lightwave on it and start playing with to see what I need to change it around. I'll start with the Red and Big Brown & Little Brown  since they are the most common here and I need some spokes bat parsons to tell thier story.  I want to create a short movie explaining this white nose syndrome which has killed 6-7 million bats in the last 4 years.

That is a really nice model.  I wish it weren't quite so expensive.

I have that toonimal bat.  It is easy and fun to work with.  I do not know about lip synching with it though.

They have several bats on turbosquid.com I got one for $17 that looks pretty good much better price than $150 I'll play with it and see how realistic I can make it into other species and play around with some fur programs.  I'll look into creating a resonable toon bat that looks cute and friendly probably a foxbat since they already look pretty nice and a lot of cartoon characters to pick from their for models. right now I just want to make good looking real looking animals there are a bunch of good looking animals on that sight with prices as well the really good ones are in the 100's of dollars but they look like the real thing pretty amazing work.  look at some of the high dollar squirrels.
