Subject: Import obj files crashes Poser

padme ( ) posted Tue, 07 February 2012 at 2:00 PM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 3:47 PM

Since the upgrade to SP1, everytime I try to import an .obj file, closes Poser.
Before upgrading mattered it without problems. I have Poser Pro 2012 x64 and Windows 7 Ultimate x64.
Any idea which is the solution to the problem?
Thank you.

I've no idea. I'm using SR1 and I can import .obj fine. I'm also Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I have nearly the same problem. After importing Genesis to PP2012, I saw the figure in the window of PP. If I switch from hip to body, PP2012 crashs "Poser Pro executable file doesn't work" and I can only close PP over Taskmanager. I'm using SR1.

Now the full story, where is PP2012 and your content installed within the Windows 7 environment.  If you respond Program Files Folder then you may be experiencing UAC interference, an OS security measure.  But we don't have that bit of information to determine the exact issue.  As far as we know, it might be outdated video drivers causing issues on program shutdowns.

I have PP2012 and the Content at C/programme/Smith Micro/Poser Pro 2012.

The UAC is deactivated at my system. All works, only the import from Genesis to PP2012 crashs PP.

My system dates are Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-Bit, Vers.Nr. 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU           X5472  @ 3.00GHz, 3000 MHz, 4 Kern(e), 4 logische(r)

Graphic: NVIDIA Quadro FX 5600, driver: 8.17.12.7565

The path of DAZ Studio 4 Pro is the main program at: c/programme (same as your program files), the content folder is at another partition E under DAZ Studio/data...etc.

I can export Genesis and I can load it in PP2012, but I can't do any more, then it crashs.

I have the main program installed at c/program/Smith Micro/Poser Pro 2012 and UAC is active.  I have installed SR1 and all my content is installed in seperate runtimes on another drive.

So far I have no issues with SR1 running on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit other than a slight change with SSS which seems to have been a quirk with my system as no one else apppears to have had the problem. I have certainly imported a number of .obj files since SR1 and have never had a problem.

I use Poser 13 on Windows 11 - For Scene set up I use a Geekcom A5 -  Ryzen 9 5900HX, with 64 gig ram and 3 TB  storage, mini PC with final rendering done on normal sized desktop using an AMD Ryzen Threadipper 1950X CPU, Corsair Hydro H100i CPU cooler, 3XS EVGA GTX 1080i SC with 11g Ram, 4 X 16gig Corsair DDR4 Ram and a Corsair RM 100 PSU .   The desktop is in a remote location with rendering done via Queue Manager which gives me a clearer desktop and quieter computer room.

Does this problem happen with specific .obj files or any obj files?

I'm working on a dynamic version of Jan019's Little Black Dress. I'm using PP2012 with SR1 installed. No files beside just the original programme files live in the Program Files folder: everything - including what I import - lives in a discreet poser runtime forder on the c: drive. I have had absolutely nil issues importing any obj file before or after installing SR1.

uhmm... I had messy OBJs import and hang in Poser before.  I had to clean them up by running them through MeshLab, for example.  The resulting geometry could be imported.

Imported meshes which cause Poser to hang, could have overlapping vertices or intersecting polygons.  Or facets removed from surfaces, or edges without facets, and so on.  Sometimes, these occur at such a small scale that visual inspection alone cannot identify the problems.
