I really suggest a visit to PosaerPlace to look around for what we are currently planning. I think folks will be pleased. More on this will be posted later.

Quote - When SM announced that P9/PP2012 would have weight maps I put my mind off the whole Genesis thing.  I simply knew the community would answer the call for weight mapped figures.  AntoniaWM and V4WM are part of that answer.  I have a lot of V4 stuff and I'd rather be able to use all of her existing stuff then having to buy all the ethnic, muscle, elite, creature, ++ etc packages for a new figure.

Can we get an amen? AMEN!!

basicwiz ( ) posted Sat, 11 February 2012 at 3:27 PM

AMEN!

I noticed that all of the Genesis gnashing of teeth seemed to have faded away, thankfully. I notice over at Daz that the discussions of the exporter are dying out. I'm not sure if it's the quality of the finished Gensis images that have been posted or the fact that we in the Poserverse have our own darlings to play with now. Perhaps some of both.

How do I get shoes to work with WMV4?

Convert them?

basicwiz ( ) posted Mon, 13 February 2012 at 11:07 PM

A converter is coming soon... in the meantime, have you copied the joints from V4WM over to the shoes as well as the clothing items? This solves 90% of my problems.

What happened to this V4-WM bug report thread?  In fact, what happened to the whole V4-WM forum section at Poser Place?

I'm sure I was looking at it just a couple of days ago but now it's missing.  So's the Antonia section from the looks of things.

If you mean in your render, then that's an unassociated problem.  I've had that happen a few times, and I still haven't figured out what causes it.  But I haven't messed with rigging ever.  And the way I've fixed it has been to go back to a version of the scene where they didn't occur and rebuild the scene to be the same as it was before.  So far it's been remarkably inconsistent for me.

The project is on a very short break :)  We'll start working on the conversion script again tomorrow and it should ship very shortly after that. It's as good as ready.

But is that why those forum sections were removed?  Seems a little drastic.  There was a lot of good information in there to just shut them off.

When I run the conversion script on my morphed V4 character with the default options, my morphs get removed.  How can I prevent this from happening, or how can I get my morphs back?

It's probably best to save your character settings as a pose file in your library and apply to a fresh V4WM.

First save the pose file and save the scene with you character for safe keeping. Then load the script on a fresh V4 and inject any morphs into her.  You could save her like that to the library for future use.  Next apply your saved pose file to the converted V4.

No problem! V4WM was designed to work with any character although some extreme morphs might not bend as well as others. There is also a clothing conversion script on its way that will let you use all your existing clothing for V4WM. That script will not delete any morphs from the clothing either and it will be available free ;) Let us know if you run into any problems.

What's the story with the update?  What does it fix?  I haven't had any complaints so far.  (Sorry, haven't been following the last batch of pages.)

Cage ( ) posted Wed, 15 February 2012 at 10:54 PM · edited Wed, 15 February 2012 at 10:56 PM

There were various small issues reported with both the script used for distribution and the weight-mapping for the figure.  Among other things, the handling of the space between the buttocks and the inner knees and elbows have been addressed.  The intensity of the ERC for the breast helper bones, which automatically raise the breast when the collar is raised, was reduced.

I'd have to check a couple of threads myself, to recall the less obvious issues which were addressed.

Ah, well, that's good enough for me, with the knees and elbows :)  I had noticed but figured that was all just a part of the whole "V4 not ideal for weight-mapping" limitations.

Can the update be applied to an already weight-mapped figure?  I spent like two days transferring rig to the first one ;)

Jeepers, you must have some mega-souped up V4 figures!  :scared:

I believe the script should be able to do what you're asking, but some rencent posts seem to suggest that morph dial settings may become confused for some users.  Vestmann has a solution posted above on this page which might help you.  If there's trouble, I will try to fix the script to meet your needs if you can report the trouble and what steps you took when encountering that trouble.  (I'll be out for a day or two, starting tomorrow, but I will do my best to fix the script if it needs to be fixed, as soon as I'm back at a computer.)

@William_the_Bloody: Have you considered making a Pose Magic update for V4WM.  I have cleaned up my PM prop for use with V4WM and added dials for the helper bones which is pretty cool.  You might also open a thread in Poser Place to develop a script for converting PM poses to regular poses. Guys like Cage and others could probably help you out. I think there have been some changes to Python since PM came out so it'd be worth checking out IMO.

Vestmann - There's a script included with PoseMagic Pro Generation 4 to turn poses into normal poses.  I'm not sure if it changes for V4WM.

I'm still trying to find time to really look into how different PoseMagic is handling V4WM to see if it even merits any tweaking.  Something may happen, but while all this is going on I just found out that my wife is pregnant with Twins, and it's all complicated because they're sharing a sac and might strangle one another with umbilical cords, and she's probably going to have to go into the hospital for weeks to be constantly monitored.

Yikes.

Okay...back from the bigger, better ultrasound.  Twins, yes, Boys and they are NOT sharing a sac, so no entanglement issues.  They can't tell how many placentas, (1 or 2) but they think it's 1 which means Identical twin boys.  They are both the right size and well formed for 20 weeks.

Thanks for the well-wishing :)  We'll get by somehow, we always do

We'll be sure to test F4. It's a pretty extreme morph but it should benefit from the Weight mapping.

Weight mapping doesn't affect dynamic clothing in any way.  The geometry is exactly the same as in the original M4.

There are 6 conforming cloth figures and only one dynamice item in the package. (apart from some props). As I said, we'll see.

Ahh ok.  That outfitter should also work for M4WM once he's out. Is the dynamic item a separate prop or does it load with one of the conforming ones?  If it's separate it should be ok.

Its seperate the Jedi robe would't like to be conformed. It is the layering that worries me. To make one garment fit is one thing but to have several layer of (conforming) cloth over one another is something different alltogether.
