Hey everyone, Happy Valentine's Day. Here's a link to a new Shahnra project intro I'm doing, hopefully I'll start getting all my Bryce animations combined in a "storyline" sort of way before to long, its been collecting dust for way tong. Anyways lemme know what ya think cheers!

I think this looks fantastic!
Maybe a bit slower to really get the carving effect?

agreed with corrie..it's excellent work..but goes way too fast ..like the carver was in a mad speed to do it before he died or something like that.

Thanks for the responses, the reason why it it goes so fast is it because of like plaster being shaken off the wall during an earthquake or bomb strike whatever thats why you see the cracks in the wall forming, its in its WIP so the dust particles and such haven't been added yet, then it will make more sense. The dust will come off with the particles and as they go down a dust cloud comes up as if they were hitting a floor etc.

Ah, that's better, thanks.  Doesn't seem too fast to me, but then I read your explanation before seeing it, so... shrug. 

Okay so hurry up and add the cloud and dust.  I'd love to see it finished.

Looks nice! Do i smell some video copilot? ;)

I can think of a couple things that could improve it a little... if i may make some suggestions:

  • Let the camera slowly zoom in on the title to make it feel more dynamic, it builds some more tension.
     
  • If the idea is that the plaster falls off from an earthquake or other vibration source, you should add some camera shake. It could also be an idea to let the effect speed up and slow down reacting to the intensity of the vibration so that it looks less artificial.
     
  • Maybe use less ambient light and use some spots with varying inensity for more ambiance in the lighting. The ambient light/vignette could subtly change over time as well.

Spot on Rayaz:-) Good eye, also good call on the suggestions, those are the other elements I'll be adding, I think I'm going to change it up a bit and try various textures like metal etc. Ya gotta love after Effects hehehe.

Oh yea AE is awesome! Especially with the scripting.. so much dynamics you can add that way!

Have you tried out the trapcode plugins? Also, the sure target plugin and the lens flares from Video Copilot are both pretty freakin awesome!

Yeah I have quite a few plugins, including trapceode's I've use AE for years but I'm stuck on my PPC mac and  only use 6.5 pro so a lot of their stuff has been upgraded and I can't use em...sigh.

Yea i've been using it a few years now too, i can see how using an old version on a not-that-fast laptop would be a setback.. when u get a chance to play with cs4 or newer, you should definitely try it.

But like in the intro I posted here, you can still improvise using other plugins and filters, about 1/3 of that was using the basic built in filters, but it acheived basically the same effect.
