Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 23 7:38 pm)
Poser 9 would use your P8 directories. I have PP10 (which I suggest if you want built in GC) and I still install everything to P7.
WARK!
Thus Spoketh Winterclaw: a blog about a Winterclaw who speaks from time to time.
(using Poser Pro 2014 SR3, on 64 bit Win 7, poser units are inches.)
There is only one Poser 9. There are two different prices. Upgrade is a discount because you're an existing Poser licensee, not because it has less in it.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
You could upgrade to Poser 9 or sidegrade to Poser Pro 2012. Pro 2012 is technically a more "fully-featured" version of Poser 9. They both report the same version number, differentiated by whether the program is the Pro or non-Pro version.
Poser 9 is definitely better than Poser 8 and is a worthwhile upgrade. Poser Pro 2012 is even better than that. If you can afford it, I would advise jumping to Pro 2012.

Cage can be an opinionated jerk who posts without thinking. He apologizes for this. He's honestly not trying to be a turkeyhead.
Cage had some freebies, compatible with Poser 11 and below. His Python scripts were saved at archive.org, along with the rest of the Morphography site, where they were hosted.
I can't address whether it would conflict with DAZ|Studio, although I know many here run both without any reported trouble. But I have Poser 8 and Poser Pro 2012 both loaded (as well as Posers 7, 5, 4, and Pro Pack), and there's absolutely no problem.

Amazon has PP 2012 for $199 right now...

The Wisdom of bagginsbill:
"Oh - the manual says that? I have never read the manual - this must be why."Thanks for telling me, I got my pp2010 from Amazon. I wonder why Smith M would allow themselves to be undersold? Any way a nice thing for us and I to will make the purchase. Glad there is no probs with DAZ because I use it to port to Bryce.
IF ANY OF YOU HAVE ANY INS WITH SMITHMICRO YOU MIGHT TELL THEM THAT THE 3D PROGRAMS THEY WILL LET US PORT TO ARE WAY TO EXPENSIVE FOR MOST HOBBY ARTIST. IF THEY WANT TO SELL A LOT MORE TO HOBBIEST THEY MIGHT THINK OF WRITING DIRECT PORT INTO BLENDER. BLENDER HAS A LOT OF FOLLOWERS AND THEY WILL ALL BUY. IT IS A PAIN IN THE NECK TO PORT TO DAZ TO GET TO A 3D PROGRAM THE LITTLE GUY CAN AFFORD LIKE BRYCE.
