Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 28 11:20 am)
Quote - Where can I find pics of the first 2 Miki characters? I really want to see this for myself. I have never owned them. I have only ever had the stuff that was included in Poser 8, and a few freebies.
Miki 1 is no longer available. Miki 2 is still at Content Paradise and is only 19.99 right now. A bargain as figures go ;). You can find her here, however the content images there are not very flattering..lol.
There are still lots of clothes and characters there for Miki 2 as well. You can also find a few nice things for her at Runtime DNA.
I don't like her face nearly as much as Miki 1's face. And Miki 2's expressions weren't as good as the first Miki either. But the first Miki suffered from a great deal of rigging problems that Miki 2 seems to have solved. If not for that I'd still be using Miki 1. She was my favorite. I did a portrait of her way back when here.
I was not impressed at all with Miki 3. Not even a little bit. And I normally take to new figures too. ;)

Quote - I wouldn't buy her at all. I don't understand why they had to redo her if she was looking good. If it's a rigging problem, just re-rig her properly...
Well, I always felt, as a purchaser of Miki 1, that I should have gotten Miki 2 for free, but that's long gone and water under the bridge...lol. I've purchased Miki 2 in the meantime.
Miki 2 basically was the re-rig of Miki 1. They don't look exactly alike in the face, but close and the bodies are nearly identical. Miki 3 is a whole new rebuild. And I don't like her nearly as much. What I wish is that they'd have pushed Miki 1 and 2 as much as they seem to be pushing Miki 3. 3 has more clothes already than 1 and 2 did as a combined total. Sad.

Well since we're into the 5th Generation of Victoria and no two of them are exactly alike, I guess the same goes for Miki. I did have a project I was going to use Miki 3 in, but that is on the back burner now unfortunately--it's hard to find decent conforming clothes for her and I've not gotten into dynamics yet.
I am working on a Mara Jade outfit for Alyson now. I can't sit still on one project long enough to finish it. I have problems with shoes and boots, so usually about the time I have to create them, my stuff gets put on the back burner too. Sad really. I think I have some mild form of ADD. I lose interest in things too fast to be normal...
If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.

Yeah, Miki1 had the greatest smile I'd ever seen on a Poser character, it's a shame the was very wonky with bending. Though in defense for Miki2's face, she could be morphed into something very un-Miki-like and she had a lot of third party support from the Hair Conversion System to Texture Converter and that allowed me to really styilize her into something I thought was really great like this

I just hope that Miki4 (poor Ms. Miki3) gets more third party support so textures can be converted to her. It would bring on a giant wave of possabilities and extend her digital life that much more.
My whole intent on making an Asian character is so there are Asian characters. I can see the reasoning behind morphing her, but I like the look of an Asian female, and there aren't enough of them in Poser/Daz world in my humble opinion. I really liked your render. It did look pretty good, especially the skin textures. But I like my Asian woman to still look like an Asian woman.

Well, I like versitile figures too. The Miki's of all versions are best as Asian females...lol. As far as I know, no one has even made a good morph to get rid of the epicanthic eye fold on any of the Mikis. They do however make some some convincing African characters :). It's just that Caucasions are pretty much out..lol. But we have tons of figures for those, don't we? ;)

Well I gave up trying to make Miki2s face look like Miki1, I never found any face morphs that would and I failed at it too many times to count so I just gave up and went away from trying to get her to look that way. If there was a face morph that does make her look like Miki1, I'd get it right now.
In the meantime, I completed some more of my Mara Jade. I installed the ESB props from the freebies section, exported the blaster .obj file so I could customize the holster in Wings, then imported both props into Poser. This also took the M4 parenting off the blaster, so I could use it here. It's parented to her right thigh now. I am happy with how this is turning out. But the leggings are next, then I have to create boots for her. Hopefuly, I won't stall out this time around, and actually finish something I started...

Quote - Well then here for comparison are Miki1, Miki2 and Miki3. To make the comparison more more interesting, they wear the same hair, and where skin shaders are using the native textures (the UV mapping is different), they all have been passed trough EZSkin to add SubSurfaceScatter so we could do away with the different shader generations.
i like 3 more detailed IMHO
:O)
Y'all have a great day.
They all look pretty good, but I don't really have an appreciation for Japanese women after spending 5 years in Sasebo, Japan (lower Kyushu). I tend to lean more toward the Spanish influenced Asian, such as the Philippines. But I have been to Korea, China, Malasia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Cambodia, and a few other countries I don't care to mention. I am looking to create an Asian woman who is NOT Japanese...
If I had a nickle for ever time a woman told me to get lost, I could buy Manhattan.
Anyhow, moving on.... I also made some metallic shin guards for her, and I am working on the boots I am going to put under them. I am still deciding if I should go with the riding boot style so prevalent in the Star Wars universe or create something that just comes over her ankles... In progress.

looking good m8, has it been fun ? and will you do it again lol would love to have a go at a project like this but I rarely ever finished a project, love doing the modeling bit but all the fiddly bits after I give up on
hope you find your light sabres (but looks like you have the skills to make your own ) waiting to see the final render
By the way: the differencs between Miki1 and Miki2 as shown are mainly in the textures.
Here's the same pose, but with the hair hidden and shot with the preview render in smooth lined mode and zoomed in on the faces of Miki1 and Miki2.
The geometries have different UV maping and the body is sliced differently. Miki1 has hip, abdomen and chest, while Miki2 (G2 style) has a waist actor between hip and abdomen.

I would make my own, but there are so many of them out there for free, it's a time saver to download one. I don't mind giving credit where credit is due, so I will probably just download one and use that.
I may or may not have her holding it activated. I want to see what I can do with Poser 9 to make the lightsaber blade glow. Probably end up doing it post. And she is known more for using a blaster than the lightsaber anyhow, so it may just end up hooked to her belt like in most of the pictures I looked at on Google. We will see.
Thank you for checking it out! Yes, it was a lot of fun. And one of the first projects I actually finished. I could still make a cloak for her, but I see a lot of pictures of her without one. The few that do have her in a cloak, it's a simple cape with a hood, and nothing like a Jedi would wear.
