THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Photo textures in Bryce 7 Pro

vangogh ( ) posted Sun, 26 February 2012 at 3:59 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 2:14 PM

I have tried to place photo textures on objects that I have imported into Bryce 7 Pro several times, and always with the same result. The texture comes in with a blue tint on it and no matter what I do I can't seem to get rid of that tint. Does anyone know of a way to get around this problem?

The only work around I have been able to come up with is to start up Bryce 6.1, import the object that I want to apply the photo texture to. Get everything textured the way I want it. Save the file as Bryce 6.1 and then start up Bryce 7 pro, open the same 6.1 file and then all the photo textures are fine. I then copy the object, open my Bryce 7 scene file and place the object where I want it. The photo textures are fine after that, unless of course, I try to change the textures, and then again I get that same blue tint.

I've heard that there was a problem with photo textures in Bryce 7 Pro, and so far, this is the only way I have found to get them into Bryce 7. If anyone else has a better solution, I would like to hear it.

Because I don't have B6 installed I use the DAZ studio bridge. I create cube primitives in D|S and apply the image textures I want to them and then I bridge it over to Bryce. This puts them correctly into the Pic Editor and can be applied to objects in Bryce as usual. Then I delete the D|S cubes.

Ypu can also use a modeler the same way and export to .OBJ/.MAT which also loads correctly in the B7 Pic editor.

Dear vangogh

I suggest you don't open photo textures in Bryce 7.1 Pro because it immediately crashes I would either carry on using Bryce 6.1 or create a .obp file and then import it into Bryce 7.1 Pro. NOTE: once you have save a file in Bryce 6.1 and then resave in Bryce 7.1 Pro you will not be able to use it again in Bryce 6.1 so you may want to consider whether it is worth just working in 6.1.

Good Luck and Happy Brycing

So far the photo texture problem is the only drawback to Bryce 7 Pro that I have run into and using Bryce 6 as a work around is the only reason I would be keeping it handy. Meaning that now that I have 7 Pro, I will be doing all my main brycing in 7 Pro. Even with the photo tex drawback, 7 Pro still has more advantages than disadvantages.

And Dan Whiteside's suggestion of using Daz Studio to bring photo textures into 7 Pro is a good one too that I plan to try.

I experienced the very same thing yesterday ... the part of the picture that was to be transparent was BLUE.... So I made the pictures objects in Bryce 6.3 and saved it then opened the scene in Bryce 7Pro and then put them into my object presets... and off I go.  thanks for this solution..

Dear vangogh

If you have Bryce 6.1 and to export to Bryce 7.1 Pro I would suggest doing via bryce due to one thing i read on wikipedia Daz Studio 3 seemed to kill Bryce 6.1 and because of this they bought out an update Bryce 6.3.

The Address is above for Bryce wiki

Try updating Bryce 6.1 and see if you can get it to 6.3 that will make exporting easier.

Well Good Luck and Happy Brycing

AFIK there is an issue with photo textures in 7.1pro but I seem to recall it was only a Mac issue. Are you folks on Macs???? By the way I suffer from CRS syndrome, for those that don't know what that is,            ( Can't remember S#t* ).

Yup, the "blue image of death" is a B7  only issue.

Know all about CRS!
