Never seen one for sale.

Free sounds like a good price.

Gimme an hour and you'll have an iPhone.

You're faster than me. I would surely need two hours, at the very least. Not that I would have that much time at the moment. Duties, duties.....

There are a number of free Iphone models ones over at turbosquid. You have to join, but it's not a bad site to look thru once a week. I'm not real familiar with the different models of Iphones but here's a couple of examples:

I didn't say it's going to be any good, did I?  ;)

I don't own one so whatever I do is based on photos and guesswork.

Just got to texture it now.  Should be another 20 minutes, all told.

If you do a search in google there is a free IPad download, but I don't remember where, but I got it and it was pretty good.  I don't have it anymore.

SAMS3D ( ) posted Fri, 02 March 2012 at 5:31 PM

oh I found it, go to http://3dexport.com/3dmodel-ipad-22110.htm

and look at the right side of the page to download which format.

and here is the other one I actually used

grichter ( ) posted Fri, 02 March 2012 at 7:09 PM

Yeah but do any of them come with a decent calling and data plan?

Plus, in order to download it do I have to sign a contract? If so for how long?

thanks for the links, I need a iPad for an up coming planned render.

I did not have to do anything but download them, you might be looking at the wrong down loads

Knowing Apples legal team and the 'i' prefix I very much doubt you'd find anyone cashing in on their intellectual property. Just make sure any model doesn't have round corners. Please send your 30% cut to iTunes

Why can't you have round corners?

SAMS3D ( ) posted Sun, 04 March 2012 at 8:21 AM

We are putting one up in the free section, no profit for us, it is not called IPAD, but will look like one with poseable lid....no emblems either.  That should be okay....right

Apple Patent / copyright / tradedress. (they claimed a patent/tradedress on what is basically a rounded brick.... oh and they've claimed a patent on ..a hole. (using a USB port as a airvent. yup. a hole.))

welcome to the Stupid Patent Wars. where the simpilest thing can be patented and exploited.. eg - pressing a button. or clicking a link to buy something. or....

No disrespect, and no trolling but seriously, there could be no simpler object to model. 20 minutes max. Oniy assigning UVs might take twice as long as the modeling process.

Yeah but if you aren't a modeller then it could be a bit daunting.

(actually a cube is easier to model  )

Hmm has Apple really become that Draconian of late??
the moderator over at the C4D forum gave away this very realistic model of the iphone 4 right after its release.
AFAIK he nor any of us who have used the model have received any C&D letters from Apple's lawyers.....yet

You are absolutely right.  Dead easy.  Admittedly a cube is easier but it ain't that hard to do.  Mapping it was about 5 minutes.  Texture another 5 minutes.

But, somebody asks for something so it gets made.  Ain't for me to decide who asks for what.  :)

I can't blame Apple for becoming a bit anal with its patent claims. Not when some Chinese electronics company is churning out look-alikes (but not work-alikes; think of the $20 "Rolexes" for sale in Times Square) within 48 hours of Apple launching a product. And when even mainstream electronics firms promptly redesign their product to look as much like the Apple one as possible without actually having the Apple logo on it. Yeah, sometimes it seems a bit obsessive about things that begin with the letter "i" but everyone wants a piece of Apple pie. Thus they have more lawyers than some tech companies have employees.

yes... they have. eg suing for a patent over swiping your finger from one side of the screen to the other. or suing for making a tablet that is basically a rectangle (what other design could it be? seriously?)  and I wasn't making up the patent for using a USB port as a vent. (something all PC's do anyway)...

it's not just apple btw. it's also Samsung, Nokia, Microsoft, Google... and add in some Patent Trolls.... fun fun fun.

My next figure will have 5 fingers.
5 on each and every hand.

Should I patent it?

Welll, one is a bit shorter, I think I will call it thumb.

The other 4 only vary in lenght and thickness, but basically look alike.
