I just had another suggestion for an addition.. how about 3 default colors for snow or sand? The current snow color setting is fine, but having one in lace for sand might be nice.
(Also sand might need a slightly diferent complete node setup button.)
Since the principle is pretty much the same, might as well add that second material oppertunity as well, eh?
Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.
It'd be nice to have some presets. Of couse, it's more than just the colour: SSS, specular and reflectivity settings will all need to change too.
I'd interested to see if anyone can come up with some good settings for alternate materials using the new options in build 8. The settings can be saved (File menu' and shared here, perhaps? If we get some good ones I could add a presets menu to implement them without having to load a saved file.
What do you think?

No voodoo for displacement - vector displacement is implemented in Firefly, but not exposed. There is no way to use it.
Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)
SOFT BODY COLLISION PHYSICS.
Whoops. This is the snow thread. Sorry, i got carried away.
how would animation work, i wonder. You could seed the space above a scene with tiny primitives and snowize them. Then you'd have to kevframe them to fall....hmm, different speeds and angles, hmmmmm......they can';t fall straight down, they have to "wander" a little...hmmmm......make them build up on the ground....hmmmm...too many objects in the scene.....hmmmmmm

I used the snow machine (Build 8) for ash in this render by changing the colors to grey and applying it to the street and curb. After rendering with and without the ash, I used the erase tool in Photoshop to clear the ash away from the cobblestones in front of our favorite heroine's right foot.Quote - Nice shoe house! Where'd you find it?

I've uploaded a new build (009)
Changes:
Same URL as before.

Build 012 uploaded. Same download location as usual.
Contains bug fixes (status bar updates, actor name when parented)
Also, a behaviour change: the current actor no longer receives snow if it hidden. previously the current actor always received snow regardless of its hidden status.
An Mac version of the script is now included ('SSM2MAC'). This version is highly experimental and probably unstable. However, if you are a Mac user, please test it :-)
This version is that last Alpha version. If no significant problems are reported over the next few days I'll make it a beta version and start getting the documentation ready.

There was no special lighting used, and different items got different settings to get a little variety. I thought the road came out great. I wanted the sign that says "Book Store" to have a little snow on the front, but I couldn't get it to work for me. Is it possible?
Please tell me that I am not alone in trying to figure out ice. I can't seem to get it right (there is no ice in this image). Is it the lighting I am using?
Bugfix update to build 013 uploaded.
I've also designated this build a beta build, i.e. the feature set won't change now until after this version is released. I've had some good ideas suggested for improvements, and they will be considered for a future v2.1 release.
Download URL is the same as previous ones.

Some of the suggestions are still under consideration, others have been incorporated into build 008, available for download at the same URL as the original download.
Please read the 'Build 008 changes' file included in the zip.
