Subject: Blackhearted Anastasia Clothing...

It should. Nothing was done that would/could affect the material zones.

Lully ( ) posted Wed, 15 February 2012 at 11:41 AM

No it wont remove the mat zones, just what's connected to them, ie the textures, it cuts down slightly on the file size and loading the cr will be faster as its not looking for map images in your textures folder

Ok, I showed an early render of this set a page or so back, so here ia another a little further along. These are conversions of my Jeans and Things for V4 but I think they're fitted to Anastasia very well and the weight mapping is working well. There is still a lot to do befire I can call this set done so don;t get too excited, but I wanted to show that there ARE clothing on the way. Making dynamic clohting and fast conversions is fairly easy but fitting and rigging full commercial grade conformers has proven a little more challenging that most of us thought, IMHO, I know it has in my case. BUT, I also think that once past the learning curve there will be a substansial improvement using weightmapping and the other new rigging options, so please be a little patient as we learn.

That all said here is a render of the direct conversions so far.

and one of one of 2 alternate shirts I'm working on to add for Anastasia.

I'm also still working on the business style skirt suit I showed earlier, and finally making good progress on it.

@Letterworks - those jeans are looking good!

I can be patient :) just hoping there's plenty of stuff on the way.

My efforts to convert some V4 stuff to Anastasia have been fairly disappointing so far unfortunately so she's more or less stuck with dynamic clothes at the moment.

This is true... except for two things:

  • her dynamic clothes are made by me in Marvellous Designer.

  • my Marvellous Designer sewing skills are nearly as bad as my real life sewing skills (though I get less of the teeny puncture wounds in MD!)

:D

If you have Poser Pocket Knife, by PhilC (www.philc.net), there is a "Delete Morphs and Materials" feature in that Python script, so you'd be able to create a dev figure fairly quickly right from within Poser ...

The process, from start to finish, to create a DEV figure for Alyson is:

  1. Load Alyson 2 into the scene.

  2. Turn off IK (Figure > Use Inverse Kinematics) and zero the figure (Figure > Zero Figure)

  3. Memorize the figure (Edit > Memorize > Figure)

  4. Run Poser Pocket Knife (purchase from PhilC.net)

Thank you for the step by step. I thought I had just about everything from PhilC but looks like I missed this one. Will have to fix that.

Thanks to all you clothes makers for checking in.  I honestly was getting worried that Anastasia might  become another of my wisp of the wind figures.

One thing that should probably be clarified, though, is that this "dev figure" isn't used the same as in the old days. You can't just replace the OBJ file reference and have the weight maps work.  You'll just use the CR2, which has the morphs and materials stripped out of it, to transfer the weight mapping to the clothing OBJ.

  1. Import the clothing OBJ file that you want to conform.

  2. Go to the Setup room

  3. Drag and drop the icon for your dev figure onto the clothing OBJ file

  4. Poser will ask if you want to regroup the OBJ file according to the skeleton. If the OBJ file has already been grouped manually, choose No.

  5. Eventually a skeleton appears and you can then re-enter the Pose Room.

  6. Select the BODY and change the name of the new clothing item in the Properties palette

  7. Zero and memorize the figure

  8. Save the clothing to the library

Now you should have a weight mapped piece of clohting. However, you'll have to test it to make sure it all bends as expected. There might be areas where the weight maps have to be tweaked in the Joint Editor. And that's the part we are all learning right now 8-)

and that's the bit I'm hating, I just don't know what I'm doing, lol.

My basic clothes that I've made have pokies when posing and I just tweek with scaling and z/x/y rots, need to sort out the last step but I seem to be going around in circles,

I have a stack of vinyls in my wardrobe, some of my mother's too (Shirley Bassey 1950/60's ones) not worth anything as they are really scratched, I'm sure me and my sisters used to use them as frisbees when we were kids 😊

I used to love those pants too, sadly I was never skinny

Well you're doing a great job!

I've just barely got one foot out of the grave right now ... on day 6 of a really bad cold and this is the first day that I can actually taste something. Maybe things are looking up! Still coughing, though not as much, and not nearly as achy ... but still have a slight fever.

Haven't quite been up to tackling my weight mapped boots but maybe tomorrow!!!

that sounds like the flu, temperature and aches? keep yaself warm and take it easy,

I've just done a bit of a search around and compiled a list with links of anastasia stuff, or alyson2 stuff that can be used in combination, I've not gone into all the stuff that could be used with tweeking as I'm sure there are masses of things, I've done a page, if anyone wants me to add then put the link in this thread and I will pick it up and update the page.

I tried out the Versitle Dress for Miki2 and since I couldn't find my Miki2 install file I figured that all the stuff I bought for her shouldn't go to waste and gave Ana her stuff. I didn't even have to adjust the dress and all I had to do was run the simulation. The dress worked like a charm but for some reason Ana has a skin disease on her legs now. Yay IDL.

LaurieA ( ) posted Thu, 23 February 2012 at 8:20 AM

Do you have AO on too? AO will leave ugly spots on SSS skin if you're also using IDL. Check your light :)

i tried to fit Jessi's dyanmic gown to Anastasia.  I wanted it to ride up like silk with the arm/hands pose.  this could look a lot better?

i shrank her for the 20 frames to try and shrink wrap the dress, then went to 40 frames for the finished pose. tried again with drapes set to 6, for the strap around her neck.

is IDL supposed to make colors from the lampshade shine a bit of color on Ana?

wheee, 64 bits.  the cloth simulation took minutes, not hours.

Looks like your cloth is too stiff to me. Turn the cloth density up and turn the stretch damping way down to 0.0001. If you want a tighter fit, shrink the original dress, export and reimport and then shrink Ana then run the sim.

I think the lampshade will cast color if it's a light emitter.

yeah, doesn't look silky at all.  i was trying for a 'spy who loved me' mood.   😄

thanks for the stretch damping tip.

how low can those collision offset and depth be set before it goes wonky?

her hand is pretty close to her thigh.  i had to make her thighs invisible cause she was poking through.

I checked a few times and I'm pretty sure AO is off for lights and materials unless I missed something. I did a render without the dress on and the spots disappear, but obviously I can't post that so I guess I can just combine the two renders to make one final image.

Is there a freebie script that will turn on/off AO?

Hope you get your pc sorted out soon, I know what a pain it can be, a few years ago i went out the next day and bought a new pc as i couldnt wait and was having hissy fits because i wasnt online for a few hours and just bought anything cheap so i could get back online and into poser, bad choice of purchases back then and it lasted 18 mths and clapped out again. That's serves me right for buying rubbish. :(

Just another incremental update.  The jacket was a bear to rig.  Just a couple of parts left and I can start texturing.  These are ParrotDolphin's awesome procedural textures from several of her sets.  I'm also rolling around the idea of including some of Alyson's FBM's that work with Anastasia.  Actually in this one the "BreastImplants" morph is applied.
