Subject: Monthly Challenge!

KimberlyC ( ) posted Mon, 12 March 2012 at 10:10 AM · edited Thu, 12 December 2024 at 8:41 AM

Hi guys!

We are going to start up the monthly challenges again. But, this month you will help us pick a "theme" for the challenge. If you wish to participate in the challenge or would just like to suggest a theme, please post a few suggestions in this thread. After a few days we will go through them and decide a theme.

We look forward to your suggestions!!

Beat me to it, was just comin to start a thread for that very reason. Might add that this will be Open to all Fractal applications too so the themes need to be wide open to interpretation.

Thanks for clarifying that :)

How about a springtime challenge?  Need to think of a theme broad enough it is available for any fractal program.  Some times could be a challenge strictly for APO or MB3D, of UF and so on but as a beginning it needs to be all inclusive so no one feels excluded.

Exactly right Jim, there will be Program specific challenges for each app later on but to start with an all inclusive one is best I think, get everyone involved.

not too difficult!

kokabeel ( ) posted Wed, 14 March 2012 at 3:29 PM

Spring would be broad in terms of what people could produce.Lots of pretty 'flowers' and 'plants'.

The easter egg would be a very interesting challenge! Especially with the variety of fractal programs out there.

Let's get some more ideas!

dochtersions ( ) posted Fri, 16 March 2012 at 12:59 PM

Easter and spring themes seem to me both very nice.
So no new ideas from me, although I'll thinking of it.
And happy the challenges will start again. :)
Mies.

I was thinking of  the weird  forms  you sometimes get  in fractals... just  an idea!!

mountmous ( ) posted Sun, 25 March 2012 at 9:45 AM

Almost all of us use a lot of colour in our work. Maybe a black-and-white theme? Greys are also permitted.

dochtersions ( ) posted Sun, 25 March 2012 at 11:15 AM

Sounds great to me, Yvonne!

Lenord ( ) posted Sun, 25 March 2012 at 8:04 PM

Man, I could go for a B/W challenge but I'm disqualified, I do love Black and White art though, of any type.

B&W is a great idea.

kokabeel ( ) posted Mon, 26 March 2012 at 9:33 PM

Alrighty guys and gals! I think we need to take a poll, or what not before April comes so we can start the challenge. I'm loving a lot of the ideas, and I would love to join, but I want to see what everyone else can come up with!

dochtersions ( ) posted Tue, 27 March 2012 at 4:28 AM

I'm looking forward, curious what will come out :) !

KimberlyC ( ) posted Tue, 27 March 2012 at 3:36 PM

Great idea kokabeel.

Here are the ideas to chose from:

  • Spring
  • Easter Egg
  • weird  forms
  • Black & White

Please post below your pick. :)

... Also, just because we have made a "poll" does not mean new ideas can not be introduced! :)

A spring theme sounds excellent and it could be in B&W which takes into account 2 suggestions in 1.  Easter also could be a good theme but since this is a world wide membership, it might seem in bad taste to celebrate 1religion at the exclusion of all the rest.  Spring on the other hand is a universal event no matter what culture or religion someone belongs to.

I will be happy with any of them.

alida ( ) posted Tue, 27 March 2012 at 4:02 PM

Jim:)you did it!!!I think you said the right   words:spring is the top fave butI'll look ofr weird forms in my fractals!!!

mountmous ( ) posted Wed, 28 March 2012 at 12:31 AM

Spring and B&W are my favourites. Jim makes a nice combination, however, spring in B&W?? Spring is, for me, all about the soft colours.... A winter theme in B&W would be a more fitting combination :-)

dochtersions ( ) posted Wed, 28 March 2012 at 10:15 AM

Hi their :)

You can also see eggs as the beginning of new life (which happens in Spring), not so much associated with Easter.

Spring and weird shapes is a broad concept.
Black / white, and eggs, are more 1 theme-oriented, which means that you can work more specific or 'targeting'; maybe that could make things easier(?)

Well, for me everything is good.

Greetz to everyone.

alida ( ) posted Wed, 28 March 2012 at 4:12 PM

1)eggs

3)weird  forms

3)spring

KimberlyC ( ) posted Fri, 30 March 2012 at 10:04 AM

Ok... so lets go with Spring then. I'll have the challenge up this weekend. I look forward to seeing your entries! :)

Hi Kimberly,

Thanks for informing us

I don't know the rules.
Are there conditions to meet?
Where to upload the fractal, and what is the limited (1, 2)?

Maybe I see this automatically, (sorry for bother you then ;-)).
I've never participated in a fractal-challenge, so that's why.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
Mies/Jacomina :)
