Question...Purchased a product at Renderosity called Skyreach.
http://www.renderosity.com/mod/bcs/skyreach-moon-set-for-daz-4/90196

Made for Daz4...Wondering if anyone has purchased this product and if you are having a problem to install...Daz online purchases are self installing where Rendo uses winzip. I put the folder in My Library. The path shown is Skyreach....Having trouble trying to get Daz4 search engine to find and no way is it showing up in Smart Content.. Sent an email to the vendor explaining the problem..

Make an opened ZIP file folder, ALWAYS extract ALL Zips to it, THEN move it to where you wuld like it to be, solves ALL location Problems for Poser or DAZ

Agree with the above.  DAZ downloads for D4 include a meta data installer.  I hate the D4 content tab and the search feature.

I try to install everything to a Poser runtime.  That way I avoid the annoying habit DAZ has of gobbling up my content without me knowing how to find it.

No it doesnt have meta data. Mentioned that to the vendor.

I took a look at the file list in the readme, and tbh this product "smells" of a vender that's clueless as to what is required.

First is the poor packaging, you don't tell people to unzip it into the "My Library" folder and then have that folder as the first one in the zip, that gives the user two My Library folders, one inside the other which can cause you problems.

Second is the bad mix of Poser & DS format files, if the product is meant to be only for DS then you don't need .obj & .pp2 files if your including .daz & the data folder files, even the MAT files are .pz2 rather than properly setup .dsa/.dsb MAT files.

Then there's the files that are a waste of time, pp2 prop files outside the runtime structure wont be seen by either DS or Poser.

For me this is a Poser product that the vender has (badly) converted to DS with DS3 and jumped on the DS4 bandwagon by trying to add meta data (Support folder).

Good to hear its not me. I have requested my money back from Rendo adviising the vendor also..

Thanks for all your help!

Probably like most sites outside of DAZ3D they are more aimed at the Poser user. But even some of those Poser products are not well packaged either.

I remember one Poser product I bought that had everything, I truely mean EVERYTHING, was thrown into one runtime Props folder (PP2, PMD, OBJ, and texture files).

It took me about an hour to sort the files into their proper Poser runtime subfolders, then I used Dimesion3D's Runtime Repair to auto-correct the PP2 files reference code to call up the associated files from the new (proper) locations.

Grrrr!

Hi All,

THe best way to install Skyreach is as described by PoppaC,

Simply unzip to the desktop and merge the product 'My Library Folder' to your content library 'My Library Folder'.

This product passed testing because it works when installed correctly.

The main issue here is that unfortunately products vendered through renderosity are not going to come with either a product or metadata installer.(This is something I would like to see in the future.) The main reason for a seperate installer for metadata is its an optional install.

And yes this product does have meta data, you can find the files in your support folder of your Daz 4 runtime. The metadata is made up of three files a .dsa, .dsx and a jpg thumb. You may need to reimport your metadata for it to show up.

The reason why I chose to use ppz formats is for the broader compatibility across versions for example a .daz file with its associated data files will only work in Daz version forward from the the version it was exported. So a data file from 4.2 will need 4.2 installed to work. So anyone for whatever reason using an older version will need to upgrade to use the product.

This product is pretty complex and those ppz's you can see outside of the normal runtime are used in the scripts for the presets.

When Vitachick requested a refund I had no problem letting this go through, the issue here is in relation to install processes for Daz Studio 4 and not my product. I really want people to be happy with my products and this is only the second install issue in over 100 purchases.

I do work hard to make these products as functional as possible and I am always open to suggestions on better content delivery.

Please feel free to ask any questions here in regards to the product and I will check back with answers.

Sorry this didn't work out for you Vita,

This zip setup is the required setup by Renderosity.

Also the material files are in .dsa format. I'm not sure which materials your looking at in pp2 format?

This product was developed for Daz 4 and is not a poor Poser convert.

All files are essential for this product to function correctly even ones that seem to be outside the normal runtime.

But I will admit the install instructions are a little on the poor side.

I will update them to these instructions which I use for my newer products. If you have any suggestions to further clarify them pls let me know.

You should be able to find your "My library" folder at the following path this is where most of your Daz Products will need to be installed/unzipped/merged.

*

PC USERS (WINDOWS VISTA, WINDOWS 7

C:users[your user account]My DocumentsDAZ 3DStudioMy Library

DS4*

Default Content Install Path,

Windows XP

C:Documents and Settings[Your User Account]My DocumentsDAZ 3DStudioMy Library

*

DS4 Default Content Install Path, Mac
Users[Your User Account]DocumentsDAZ 3DStudioMy Library

*

In Daz 3 it was known as the content folder.

***

You can either merge the two "My Library" Folders or Unzip the product folder as described below.

***

*To Install when Unzipping for Windows 7
:

Unzip files to
CUsersyour user accountDocumentsDAZ 3dStudio

*

*Or for Mac
Unzip files to Users[Your User Account]DocumentsDAZ 3DStudio

(Only if you can merge folders)

*

This will put the files into "My Library" and ready to use.

You can see the Skyreach Pro Clouds set being used in Daz 4 in this youtube video.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-cazxrzRmM

You might need to turn the volume up as its quite low volume.

This will give you a good idea of what you can expect once you correctly install Skyreach Pro Clouds.
