Subject: Dose Powerage stuff work in DAZ?

keyze ( ) posted Sun, 01 April 2012 at 11:53 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 1:39 PM

Back a while I bought a dress that would not work in DAZ from these people. I am thinking of loading up on some of there stuff while it is on sale but if it will not work in DAZ I really do not want to be tied to keeping Poser on my machine for just a few outfits.  Please let me know.

It looks like the powerage products are primarily designed for Poser.

Though check the reviews of the products your interested in a number of reviews state whether it worked in Daz.

If you don't hear a more definite response here I'd suggest sending a site mail to Powerage.

i have the succube and big cat armor from powerage and they work fine in DS 3 and DS4 if that helps any it all depends on if it has poser materials or poser dynamic cloth if it will work in DS

I have the Pirate, Margerita,Goth fashion and Tokyo Goth, all work fine and you can be pretty sure most of the others will except the dynamics.

I see this is a slightly older post, but for future prospects, one can change poser materials to work with Daz studio quite easily.

Just for reference, when I unzip a file that contains poser mats, they usually end up in one place or another and end with .mat5 (those are the ones that need to be changed). Be sure to save a copy, in the event things go bad or you need a back up, then with the copy, double click to get the name of the .mat5 and change it to .pz2(just the extension).

If the item came with a thumbnail, it will magically appear in your file list/tree where that blank file was before.

There is also a more complicated method involving notepad++, but I can't get it to work 100% of the time, so on that note, I only use it with freebies :)

Back on topic, I also have a few Powerage sets, and use The Freelancer for V4 quite often with no ill effects. It's really a matter if the mat files are .pz2 or .mat5.

Dynamic cloth, on the other hand, isn't quite so versatile... Sigh...

There's no need to do anything to the files in DS4 - it now seea the Material library, and reads mc6 files (though that doesn't enable it to extract any more information than before, sadly).

It seems like its more of a problem with older poser content. Newer stuff seems almost interchangeable, but I've got loads of freebies that have never worked in studio 3 or 4 until I changed the mat extension to pz2. 'Free Car Shaders' was one that could be found in my file tree (file only, no thumbs) but never worked until editing. There's many more, but that one stood out due to the number of materials in it. And that was in DS4.

In that case please bug report it - DS4 is meant to be reading MC6 files now, though I can't recall if that's been true all along or if it was an early update that added it.

Keyze I have some of Powerage's stuff, mostly his props, not outfits, and they work fine in Daz, but never, ever be afraid to email the vendor directly and ask questions! They want to make a sale, but they also want happy customers, so they will point you in the right direction! Also, don't forget you get more details in the "readme" files that you can download before buying whichever product. Hope you find out your answer!

Also when I'm perusing the market to buy there are two things I look out for; cloth (including anything with fur on it), and metals. I find some vendors rely heavily on dynamic clothing, so if I'm buying an outfit I make for dang certain it's not dynamic but conforming. Fur too, apparently poser has a much better grasp for fur, and if you try to load a prop with fur made for poser in d/s, it can have some ugly babies. Metals are tricky. I've seen some gorgeous metals come out of d/s, but poser undoubtedly takes the cake in the metals and shiny objects departments. Take a gander through any of DM's sets and you'll see some spectacular metal objects with wonderful spec glows, especially on their latest product, the Metal Realm. I have a lot of DM's stuff, and let me tell you, it is incredibly hard to get it to look halfway like that in d/s! But thankfully over time I've gathered a few tricks to keep around. Email me if you need anymore help!
