Quote - This is wonderful, Jacomina!  We have nothing like it here, of course.  So nice to see architecture from all around the world!  :)

So true Tara it is amazing to see all the architecture all around the world.

It was good to get out today to be able to capture lots of architecture and to be able to share some of it.

God Bless.

You are welcome Mies.

What a hard day . Had about two hours sleep tonight before coming to work.

This challenge i believe is growing.

Seems the new changes is working.

Pff...two hours, that is little; a hardworking man you are, Christo.
But, yes, I guess the new changes here are working hard too ;-)

God bless, my friend.

Both are great shots, Clive, but I must admit I'm partial to the second one.  (I'm sure that's no surprise!)  :)  Great stuff!

We went to the beach today, and I thought I'd show you some of our marine architecture.  This is the Edmonds ferry dock.  You're looking at the dock itself, and the passenger loading ramp above, which is totally enclosed.   (It's rainy and windy here a lot!)

Hi guys,

This is one of the photos I made yesterday in our hospital.
The most modern hospital of the Netherlands.

Taken from the ground up to above.

On my upload yesterday in my gallery is some more info about it,
but certainly no obligation for you to go there for watching.

Cheers, Mies/Jacomina :)

Whoo-hoo!  I love this, Jacomina!  Wow.  That's VERY cool!  I like it even more than the one in your gallery, and that's saying a lot, 'cause I like that one very much.  Great composition and light, and the reflections are amazing!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend.

Love the church Mies.

Superb capture Jacomina.

God Bless.

auntietk ( ) posted Fri, 30 March 2012 at 9:32 AM

What a great shot!  You've got me wondering about those little towers.  It looks like there are staircases inside, because of the windows, but why on earth would anyone build a tower with a staircase that doesn't go anywhere but up to the top?  You see, this is one of the reasons I like architecture so much.  These questions are so intriguing!  Great capture, my friend.  What a cool place!

dochtersions ( ) posted Fri, 30 March 2012 at 10:13 AM

Thank you so much, Christo and Tara.

b.t.w.:

Laughing, Tara! I have no idea whether there are stairs, but it should be.
In this place I took many pictures of old churches and monasteries.
All are restored at this time.
Because of these workmen I was limited in making specific photos, and I could not (or rather, didn't dare) to go inside.
Everywhere there were cars and machines/intruments of the workmen, much dust I got over me ;-).
But, you have something 'sacrifice' to take pictures, right?

There is an abundance of churches, etc. in Sittard.
One of the restorers told me that (about 25 years ago) the pope visited them.
They let ring all the bells in all towers on the same time, as the Pope arrived. However, there was panic, because one of the highest church towers (which included a clock) began to move back and forth.
They had to be quickly stopped.

God bless, and greetz,
Mies/Jacomina :)

Is it not amazing how many churches and hospitals feature for our focus on architecture?

I was in Franschhoek for breakfast today and walked around afterwards.  The 1841 NG Kerk in the town caught my attention - plus it was open for us to go inside.

Nowhere as statuesque as the church in Sittard, Mies!

Here is a look inside the church - I love the woodwork!

Clive

dochtersions ( ) posted Fri, 30 March 2012 at 3:34 PM

This is wonderful to see, Clive.
The contrast of being so white from the outside, and that wonderful, warm wood inside the church. The architecture from 'het schip', is fantastic.

I love that towers on the façade.
And I like it, you also say "kerk."
This is the Dutch word for church too.

The serroundings/environment, sky, landscape, and the path,
also are beautiful captured by you, Clive.

auntietk ( ) posted Fri, 30 March 2012 at 9:25 PM

Wow!  Fabulous captures, Clive!  Apparently your church is bigger on the inside than on the outside!  :)

What a great month this has been!  It's been fabulous seeing different bits and pieces of your worlds.  I've enjoyed every minute of it!  :)

Today is the last day, so I thought I'd sneak in two more for the last week that I took a few months ago.  (Everything else was new for the challenge.)

This is typical of midwest America, Kansas-heartland stuff.  (Not very good picture quality, but hopefully in this small format you won't notice that so much!  LOL!)

This is the museum building that houses the information on the "Golden Spike" in Utah.  This is where the railroads met up in 1869.  They started building from the West Coast, and they started building from the East Coast, and when they came together, they were in what would become Utah.

dochtersions ( ) posted Sun, 01 April 2012 at 1:38 AM

Hi Tara,

About the first, as these beautiful colors and beautiful facades, I would never have thought of this architecture is also in America.
It looks very much similar as what I've seen here in Holland.

The second, I would not expect, nor suspect it is a museum.
I love the POV and the beautiful stones.

Great style, both, but yet so different.
Nice to know about the origins of Utah.

Thanks for sharing here, Tara :)

I've enjoyed it too!  Aside from the topic, which is obviously one of my favorites, being able to post two images a week kept me interested and engaged all month.  I can't wait to see what April brings!  :)
