Subject: A Sea of 1's & 0's

Hello all and hope your week is off to a great start.

I was wondering if someone might be able to help me with a matting problem or point me in the right direction where I might get help with this.

I was commissioned to creat a logo for a friend of mine who is a PC tech person.  What my friend would like for the logo is as follows.

A Sailboat something like what they use in the Americas Cup race.  Only thing is he wants the boat not sailing on water but a sea of 1's & 0's. I would like know if anyone would have an idea of how to get the desired effect.   A sea made up of Waves & waves of 1's & 0's. Thanks much for your help with this Elliot

well, if it were me and all I had was maybe Photoshop or GIMP or PaintShop Pro, I'd make a small square that has 1s and 0s in a pattern I liked, make it a seamless pattern and use that. If you wanted to mix it up a bit you could always erase certain areas of the finished filled logo and change out the number.

That's a good suggestion, and pretty much what I did. You may remember a piece I did along a similar theme: http://www.renderosity.com/mod/gallery/index.php?image_id=979814&user_id=68865&page=21&member&np  basically I think I made a repeating pattern out of it and textured a plane that I slipped beneath the waves? It was years ago...

Why isn't it moving?

Also, you should list what software you use, as different apps enable or require different approaches.

Maybe this will help?

You can have the .exe version for a windows platform as well.

Its in the help section.

That image looks like it repeats every 4 lines vertical or so, and was done very probably like I suggested. Perhaps there are programs that do this, but I'm not aware of any, but it wouldn't hurt to look around :)

here is something I was playing around with..just to give a rough Idea...

I made a full page of Binary cold and then used my warp tool and bursh to make it look like waves, then cut and pasted to the boat image in layers.

Hey dhouck, that looks great.   Did you use shadows on some of the wave layers? Looks like it from here.
