I user Poser for work purposes. This week I needed illustrations depicting various emotions, and the figures had to look fairly natural - as in human, not fey or alien or anything. I tried various figures, including V4 and M4, and I wasn't satisfied with the results. Then I grabbed Koji, who had been sitting idle in my G2 runtime. What a pleasure he is to work with. His face is so expressive, and he has a lovely warm smile. I had to do so little fiddling to get what I wanted. I really like this guy.

i honestly dont think i have ever seen this figure, but i was away for quite some time ... is he an M? based figure?

Y'all have a great day.

Tests on Koji converted to P9/PP2012 WMs look great.

hborre ( ) posted Wed, 04 April 2012 at 1:24 PM

@ JAFO: No, he is an original character offered by CP.  A G2 model, he shares the likes of Jessi, James, Miki2, etc.  Rather nice characters but greatly under used.  There is a bountiful of content at CP still available.

Koji is a G2 figure available from Content Paradise. He can share clothes with Simon and James G2.

Oh yes, weightmapped? Please show!

Prices on G2 content are very reasonable as well.

Can't show yet - still under development Steve. But the goal? All CP figs in WM versions. Date? That's still tough to lock down and commit to.

She is coming along really well. We're still shooting for a Spring release and it looks like we're on track.

We also are working on a really cool male character, executed by a talented artist you guys know very well. That figure is scheduled to be released in the same timeframe. I'll need to reserve specifc details on that character for our blog. For reference, I'm working on that blog post now but the timing for the article to go live hasn't been set yet.

Oh well. Just knowing they're in development is good news in any case.

Great news about Miki too! 😄

I'm dying to hear what folks think of Miki. lol. Cool render, NanetteTredoux!

NanetteTredoux ( ) posted Thu, 05 April 2012 at 5:39 AM

What I like about the G2 figures is that they look like real people without being too ugly to use out of the box. Kelvin and Olivia are still my favourites for African characters. I like the face room, it is very useful. And there are lots of usable clothes for them. I need careerwear, and they have plenty. Not a lot of freebies for G2 figures, but that is not a big deal.

I think the G2 were the last of the Poser native figures that looked decent.  James is a good everyman and Content Paradise offers as good line of clothing for them.  I wish more texure  sets had been made for them and no one has come up with good facial hair add ons for the men.  I'm hoping that SM comes up with some decent new weight mapped figures--they are reportedly working on a male figure.

How about Antonia, I think she is pretty real looking?  I am excited about her male counterpart, Antonio that is under development.

Hi Steve,

Is she going to be the same mesh as Miki3, and if so, will her uvs and morphs be compatible?

I'm really looking forward to WM G2 figures, too.  I've always liked them, but their bending was always a shortfall.

If weight mapping the G2s fixes their nasty shoulders I'm all for it.  I don't think I've ever seen such badly rigged shoulders in my life.  The top of your rib cage does not move when your shoulder does.

She will be the same mesh but some of her groups are changing. Her UV's will remain the same (at least, that's the plan). I want to post a pic!!!! LOL.

It seems a lot of people don't like Miki 3 for some reason.  I bought her and noticed she doesn't have nearly as much to wear at Miki 2.  I don't know if I'll upgrade as I don't use her now as it is.

LilWolff ( ) posted Fri, 06 April 2012 at 7:56 PM · edited Fri, 06 April 2012 at 8:02 PM

Miki 4? What happen to Miki 3, she seems like the forgotten on in family.

Like Anastasia, I also purchased Miki3 and there is hardly any support for either of them.

:-(

Miki 3 has both Wardrobe Wizard & Xdresser support, so the fact that not as many things have been made for her specifically is less of an issue.

I have always felt the issue is getting good textures for characters.

Most characters are dial-spins & I can do that as well as anyone else.

TZORG ( ) posted Sat, 07 April 2012 at 12:31 AM

I like Miki 3 more than Miki 2... I bet there are a handful of reasons why Miki 2 got more stuff. Times were probably a little different.

Tomsde ( ) posted Sun, 08 April 2012 at 7:04 PM

That looks really good, the G2's shoulders were really problematic and annoying to me.  I think Koji is good looking, but on other threads people have said that he's not authentically Asian looking enough.  I'm not a judge of those qualities, I just know what I like.

Janl ( ) posted Sun, 08 April 2012 at 7:06 PM

James could certainly benefit from this type of treatment as well.

Thanks.  :)

Koji actually has been a pleasure to work with. Maps nicely.

James is just a step away he is basically the same mesh.

How about a figure that can actually shrug his shoulders?  This is very close I think with a helper bone or a small morph Koji will be able to shrug believably.  :)

I wouldn't know - I always dress him and never even look at the gens.

I guess they are testicle movement handles so you can get in-motion gymnast poses correct.

    No those are helper bone geometry they are actually inside the body and normally would not be seen but I made the genital invisible for modesty.

At the moment there are 22 helper bones throughout the body that are hooked up to Dependent parameters (Poser ERC) They work automatically with the bending of the figure.  Alternately you can select the appropriate helper bone geometry in the figure and manually adjust to taste in any pose.

I intend to also do a facial rig for many of the facial movements, something that is now possible in Poser. So it will also contain extra bones.

That's some amazing work! I have a shoulder fix I did for Koji when the Capsule zones were added that's almost as good as your weight mapped shoulders.

Thank you for the answer.  LOL on me.  :-)

You really do spoil us Diogenes! If there is ever anything I (we) can do for you please let me (us) know.

BTW TZORG I really did like your answer and almost bought it, until I remembered most wear protection so nothing is jiggling around. Testicle movement handles for in motion poses, you really sounded very knowledgeable  ...lol
