Hello

How do I create a shiny effect on skin?

this is in Poser 6. I'm going to buy Poser 2012...soon.

you mean this? this is done in pp2012 with reflection node and SSS. But since you dont have that, i would suggest making a specular map and plug it in to your fastscatter node and use a light wich makes the skin shine.

You could try Bagginsbill's VSS (Versatile Shader System), which will work in Poser 6...

Thanks how do I make a specular map that gives that glossy shine?

bagginsbill ( ) posted Thu, 19 April 2012 at 7:00 AM

The map doesn't give the shine. Use a Blinn node or even the built-in specular component of the poser surface.

Specular maps are to break up the shine or modulate the shine as being more here, less there. But the actual highlights are produced by shader nodes. Blinn, Glossy, Anisotropic, Specular, ks_microfacet.

The screengrab is from PP2012 but the basics work in Poser6.

Connect a Blinn in Alternate_Specular at True White
Blinn Settings, at true White
Eccentricity =0.5
Specular Roll Offf = 0.5
Reflextivity = 1.0 =>  With the texture connected to the Reflectivity.

Start from here and adapt to your lights if needed.

This setting gives a lot of flexibility, as (if required) you can also control the specular color with the Blin color if needed.
The connection to the texture in Reflectivity is (among others) to reduce the Blinn on the BROWS; Experiment and have fun.

This is AMAZING.

Did you use a character that comes with SSS or did you do this yourself.

How to add the reflection map.

So many questions.

I do have PP2012.

Thanks everyone. I'll try it out. The screen grab is especially helpful thanks Tony!
