Did you try "placing" the corrupt psd into a new one?
You open a new file with same size or larger and from the file menu choose "place".
You may be able to open the file with any other program that read's psd files, however, they may skip any corrupt layers and load only some of them.
Finally, some psd repair tools can be found online, but I don't know how good they are, and what the limitations of a trial version may be.
Yesterday's the past, tomorrow's the future, but today is a gift. That's why it's called the present.
Hi msg24_7 ... I tried a recover pligin from CS2... it didn´t work.. and also tried to place the file as you said and it places that black background that is opening now...
I wonder if there's any way I can recover the file from the temp file.. it's still there almost 7GB but I don't know how to do it. The file is there... the temp is there and it opens nothing... just a black background 'MB.. it makes no sense!!!!
Quote - I already started..... just a month's work lost.. what the hell!!!!
I think I will go shoot myself now LOL
I really don´t know what the hell I am laughing about!!!!! I really really reeeeally hate computers!
I'd say, it really depends on the kind of laughter... happy laugh... manic laugh... sobbing laugh...
and maybe, you're not laughing about anything but at your computer... :-)

it wouldn't be a W7 cache.. PS uses a cache to store a history of what you did while working on something.. it's possible that, with the sudden shutdown, the info MAY not have been erased, as it normally would.. you would have to open the "black" file, then use history and see if the operations you did are still there. also.. one other thing.. do you have auto-save enabled? if so, it saved within five minutes of the power out. Lou.
a further note... If PS is having trouble opening it, you might try The Gimp.. also, I will troll through SourceForge and see what they have for data recovery.. it's open source and free.

Couldn't find anything at Sourceforge.. but there are a couple around.. this is free but they want to sell "larger" version..

One thing.. DO make a copy of the corrupted file and store it somewhere.. make SURE it's the same.. check the size, that's usually a reasonable way... conversely, you can use the copied one and leave the original as-is, while you make SURE it hasn't corrupted further. Also, if you don't mind flattened.. try renaming the copy as a tiff istead of psd.. sometimes, that will work. Lou..... still looking, though, lol.

Did you try looking in the recent documents area? I know that worked in XP Pro... I just recently switched to Win 7 Pro, so I am not well versed, but maybe this could find it?
