Fractals F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 13 3:03 pm)
Most apps now days are programed for PC, 32 and 64 bit platforms, there are some specifically for Mac but not many. Xyrus has an Apo version for Mac I believe, Mandelbulber may also I can't remember. I know a lot of folks at Fractal Forums run Mandelbulb3D on Mac's using WINE(Windows Emulator for MAC). UF has a Mac Version for sale.

Thanks - that's what I'm discovering in my research. My Mac is a 64 bit platform tons of memory - seems odd to me I can't find a respectable effort for this platform.

I dl'd Mandelbulb 3D 1.7.4.1 With wine included. I found 1.7.9.3 and dl'd that to update. It was written for Windows and I could not find a Mac counterpart. Nor a way to run the executable. 1.7.4.1 runs with an app extension not an exe.
Lenord - you've been so helpful and alert. Thanks so much for your time.

Check this thread on FractalForums on using a specially made wrapper which allows MB3D, any version, to run Resident on a MAC.

I think fractals can be awesomely beautiful. I love flames tho I love others also. The problem is I was used to Kai Krause's programs way back when, Explorer and Frax Flames for example.
Now I'm on a Mac (& not going back) I have no access to these programs. & I guess they are defunct. Corel seems to be letting them die.
But I loved the explorer nature of their interface.
Anyway .... how to I get back into this on the Mac?
