Subject: Translation Problem: Figure Reverts to Box Boundaries with Every Move

Droppingin ( ) posted Sun, 20 May 2012 at 6:22 PM · edited Tue, 26 November 2024 at 1:50 PM

Complete noob here.

I must have clicked a setup/preference function accidentally.

The figure disappears and becomes nothing but an empty figure during every move, rotation, or translation with nothing but bounding boxes for each group or region of the figure. This means I cannot tell what is happening very well. I have also searched through every menu and closed and reopened Das Studio 4.

Help! Please.

Maybe it is supposed to behave like this, I do not know.

I now have a realization: 3d software takes time to get adjusted to the environment! I am an engineer and have been used to techie software and systems for many years but finding my footing in this stuff very challenging. Nothing seems like a logical next step. Even the nomenclature is completely strange.

Got it!

Although it took the idiot method.

Since I could not find the correct button, the "Reset to Defaults" button in Prefrences did the trick.

New Question:

About Plug-ins: upon startup after the Reset to Defaults, many plug-ins are now disabled.

Is this normal?

How to get them back?

Thank you in advance.

Go to Help > Register DAZ Studio and enter your serial number again, that should reactivate the plugins.

The solution to your initial problem is Window > Tabs > Tool Settings, set "Manipulation Draw Style" to "None"

go to edit, prefrences, interface, and select restore to default.

you may find that the same happens if you have a lot of figures and high res mats and your computers graphics card is struggling. Just for your info.

WHO said Kiwi's can't Fly ?????

Good on ya mate, if fact, that is what I thought was happening at first. However, with only one figure in the scene and a six month old iMac with a very good graphics card, I had my doubts. It was fixed with the flick of a click.

Btw, I used live and surf in Hawaii and met many of the Aussie surfer stars of that day. My closest friends from that era still live near the very north end of SW's in a lovely spot.

Thanks for the input.
