Playing around with low light, I think I managed to come up with something that uses its tenderness and intimacy to good advantage. I left it cooking overnight, so I can't remember how long it took, but this is the 1.8k version of it.

Nudity warning: Every so often, I pick up my gallery and shake it until all of the clothes fall off. This is one of those times.

I'm completely and totally addicted to Diablo 3 these days so not giving Daz much attention, but I managed to squeeze one new render in.  Click the link for bigger, better version.

I was going to ask about the tint, thinking that's what you wanted. If that's specular, I probably should have noted a value close to white (just a hint of blue). My bad! But hey, if it works, roll on!

Finally got this fog scene punched out. It gave me a pretty good fight with several crashes throughout the week, but hey, check out that door glass...

The computer issues were mostly my fault, probably. Giving the ol' CPU a workout with too high of overclocking. Oops.

I like the fog coming thru the window. tried the fog a couple of times and never had good results, will have to play with it some more. How long did the render take?

As for the "squashed" look, when posting the image, delete the height number part and just punch in the 600 width and it will resize properly.

Great piece, love the atmosphere. The detail really gives it a period feel too. Well done on getting the door glass right, it looks perfect.

Thanks FM and Cambert. Actually I did that, but as I usually render to the size of my screen (around 1900x990 or thereabouts with screen adjustments, etc) I think it went a little wonky, or I put the 600 in the height. Probably the latter.

All told on the render count, I posted this one after about 16 hours. I had one go for three days and killed it due to noise in shadows getting worse and worse. Doh! This one is still going out of curiosity's sake, but it was my slowest render with RC1 to date. It's tough going from the 300-770ks/s to 23...

OT I was just given my 2nd premium membership on D/A I am glad some folks enjoy my fantasy. Even if it is twisted at times. I am in the process of baking a nice futuristic appt scene I love Reality / LUX!!

One trick I am discovering to cut on render times is intead of using the sun or IBL I just set a mesh adjusted to daylight add a curve to the opposite end lights up nice renders much faster..

StevieC ( ) posted Fri, 25 May 2012 at 6:40 PM

When An Angel Falls.....this one almost killed my poor old PC.....used the Forest, and although I tried to hide as much as possible, given that the trees are all grouped together, it was still a massive scene, and took 30+ hours to get to only 359 s/p......had to despeckle/blur fieflies post render......but I am pleased with it....

Very nice Steve what settings did you use on the horse ? I was asking about what to use for animals. I find myself going back to DS3 and LDP2 to produce some outdoor scenes like the one posted when I am too lazy to set a bunch of settings LOL! But overall I am using LUX

I had issues when I rendered my strship room of characters had to render on mem conservative on my ol welfare i7 8G machine LOL

StevieC ( ) posted Fri, 25 May 2012 at 6:57 PM

Thanks Bobvan.....I generally use matte settings for all areas on MilHorses, except eye areas and inner mouth areas, where I set it to glossy, and turn the dail down to half way.....I always use CWRW textures, as they are the most realistic....hope that helps.....

While you fellas are here, I've got a bit of a brain tickler for y'all. While working on a scene today, using DS4Pro, things started to bog down rather badly with just two figures and the Sacrement set running. Going to Reality/Lux, it's sitting in memory at just over 4gb, but the studio version is just under 2gb. I thought that the 64 bit version was supposed to be able handle all of one's system's memory (??). Any insight? It ought not be so sluggish, as I had more stuff I wanted to add...

Add: Hope the refugee's stick around!

No knitting, just a bad combination of Diablo 3 coming out the same time my monitor died. Had my PC hooked to the big TV which is great for Diablo but bad for Daz.

But...I beat my first round of Diablo this morning and my new monitor came this afternoon, so I guess that's a sign it's time to get rendering again.

I really wish I had money for the Supersuit Pro Suite right now, that would definitely motivate me.  Anyone had a chance to play with it yet?

Good to hear on the monitor. I've been eyeing the super suit myself, but I'm still hopelessly dependant on Gen4 for the time being. Probably out to hook up a GenX purchase, but the money pit is calling too fiercely...

Can't post this over at Daz even if the flags were up, but as it is only a concept I don't want to toss it up on my DA. So, it gets to be shown here. Neon

Just seeing what the seem zones on the new super suit turned into light would look like. It was just a test so I just threw the suit on a scene that was already setup for ease of use. 300 mat zones on the suit makes it a pain to use for reality though.

The light effect came out pretty slick. And I feel your pain on mat zones. My last, er, several images are 313 zones or above, though my personal highs are 1287 and 1301 for two different city shots. Damn my love of detail!

Not to alarm anybody but 3 of my V4s have escaped. I just left DAZ open for a hour or so and when I returned they were gone. On checking the system logs, they were last seen making their way to the cloud.

They were involved in a Star Trek scene and may have the impression thay are now Star Fleet officers caught in some strange alien dimension.

I would advise all DAZ users to close down their runtimes as their first action may be to forage for supplies, disguises and weapons.

With my luck, they'll be misdirected by a series of 404 errors into my empty 4.5 folder and starve to death, but not before a climatic Donner party roshambo.
