2)Is there any malware associated or attached to it? > None that I know of
Is there a safe downloadable version?> Should be safe I have not had any problems
What website is the safest and best one for acquiring this character and its supporting products? > on the Apollo site
This is the only site I would download Apollo (of course, there are addons elsewhere but a lot are also linked here):

Apollo is free, and a GREAT character - there's no malware attached to or associated with it if you get it on Anton's (the creator) site.
Be sure to read the directions for downloading and the password. Anton's kind of disappeared from 3d unfortunately, and never finished some of the packs he'd talked about, but the ones there are just fabulous

Thanks for all the responses, folks. This helps me a lot. As of yet, I only have 4 character bases other than the Genesis one that comes with DAZ Studio 4, and Michael 4 is the only one that is male. I can get morphs to turn Victoria 3 and 4 into guys but I think it would be better to have actual male character bases that I don't have to morph into the male form. Also, the Apollo Maximus base has some really cool morphs that will be great for some of my works. Again, I really appreciate the responses to this request.
Apollo was a major achievement when he first arrived but is now obsolete. If you have Genesis use Genesis. There is a lot more stuff for the Michael 3 and 4 and David 3 (D3 and M3 require addition genepool packages that have to be bought) that can be used with Genesis through Auto-Fit (although Auto-fit seems to be broken in the latest Studio version 4.5).
My problem is not that there are good character bases at DAZ Studio. It is that free clothing for those figures is scarce or hard to find, and some of what I have found works poorly or not at all.
I do not have funding to buy very much, and so I must look for free stuff that works with what I have. Therefore, if I can acquire a figure base that also has a lot of free clothing and accessories that work with it, that is good for me. The Apollo Maximus figure is such a character base.
Thanks for your post, concerning other character bases. I do plan to acquire them as soon as I can.
I TOTALLY disagree about him being obsolete unless the only character you think is NOT obsolete is Genesis. I LOVE and use Genesis. But Apollo still stands as an excellent character, and he's FREE, so why not use him?? Above is one of my renders with him - doesn't feel obsolete to me!
I bought him back when he was a pay for figure, and still think he's fabulous.
Here's a female body morph for him:

As for clothing, Poserworld has lots for him if you're a member there

and PhilC has a Wardrobe Wizard plugin for him as part of Expansion pack 5 here

This is a great piece, reminescent of Ali when he was "The Greatest". Very well done. Thanks for this viewing.
I went to the recommended site for the Apollo Maximus free downloads, but was unable to find a download button for the figure itself. There are required three read-me downloads and three clothing and accessories downloads. Maybe one of those 6 files has the actual figure included, but I cannot be sure of this. Why download all the supporting files without the actual file they support?
Something else I noticed was that the site seems to jump me back and forth between pages when I click on what I think will lead me to the actual download. It's frustrating to be sent back to the same page over and over again. It reminds me of those notorious automated phone services.
Perhaps one of you or more knows what I need to do? Please let me know. I'm confused about this.

Hmm, let's see... Well, there are some kind of webring-related text links near the top of that page that look like they ought to be download links, but they're not. Those do some annoying page-bouncing. The good stuff is about two-thirds of the way down the page-- big yellow bars, just before the thumbnailed links. Sounds like you found those. Also, just above them, in maroon text, is the password for the encrypted zip files.
Aha! The little underlined read me links just get you previews of the readme docs included in each zip. You want the big bold-face links to the zips. The first three "Part 1" through "Part 3" ones are indeed links to the base figure. The remaining four zips are for clothing and Anton's clever "movie makeup appliances," as the labels suggest. Also, save a copy of the fourth line's ReadMe html page, which never made it into zipped-up documentation. You'll need to refer to that occasionally.
Just tried a test of one of the links. It sets a bunch of cookies (one hopes, DivShare related), then stops at a page with a big green Download button. Click that, get a 15-second countdown. Then, finally, the download starts. Not hyper-fast this morning, but sufficient. Looks like it's the same size zip file as the one I downloaded last year, and it seems to unpack okay.
One side note on dealing with a conforming clothing glitch in Apollo's genital area... Anton gives a gudeline for this in the (fourth) Readme page: rotating that group in the pants figure outward by 15 to 20 degrees. However, when using DAZ Studio, I found that sometimes a larger rotation was required to smooth out the glitch, depending on the pose. So be prepared to turn rotation limits off and experiment.
hope this helps

Seems a bit involved, but I think I can do it; if my internet connection will stop pooping off on me. I'm using free WiFi and it sometimes stops working right in the middle of downloading.
Anyways, Thanks for all your help. I'm pretty sure it will help.
Oh,sorry, Agent0013 - I didn't see your last post before mine till just now! I think I had the page up awhile before clicking reply and as a result I didn't get a notification there were new posts till now.
It's really not complicated once you know where to click :)
The page I gave you has a link that says "Jump to Apollo Free Download Links", which leads you to the actual download page
http://www.antonkisieldesigns.com/~akfiles/htmlpages/ApolloMaximusFree3dhumanfigure.htm#Downloads%20links
Download all of the 7 parts that are the yellowed links - It will open up links at divshare - and be sure to note the password that is required to open the files. (it's written above the yellowed links)
To the side of the yellowed links and below them are a lot of the available freebies that can also be downloaded.
Have fun!!
Cheers,
Alisa

Thanks Alisa. I'll try your suggestions as soon as I can get a good Internet connection going.
All of you posting here are a big help to me and I am most grateful.

I've been looking at the Apollo Maximus character base and its supporting products as a possible addition for use in DAZ Studio 4 Pro. There is a ton of it available. Although I am not sure, it appears that this character was created to work with Poser. I do not know if it is compatible with DAZ Studio, however.
A few reviews have mentioned that because of the age of the character's last update and release, there could be malware attached. I do not know if this is true but it gives me reason to be wary of downloading the product. As far as I know the last update and release was in 2007, 5 years ago.
Even so, I like what I see and would definitely like to have it among my character bases, because there are a lot of things possible when all the morphs, textures, materials, clothing, and accessories are available. And everything is free to download!
What I would like to know is the following things:
2)Is there any malware associated or attached to it?
Is there a safe downloadable version?
What website is the safest and best one for acquiring this character and its supporting products?
If anyone knows the answers to these questions, I would appreciate it.
Thanks.
