Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 08 12:39 am)
Select DAZ Studio as the target app instead of Poser. Those installers are old and look for "poser.exe", but PoserPro uses the name "poserpro.exe", and the problem that required V4 to be installed into the internal runtime was fixed in P7sr3 anyway.
DAZ 3D is switching to zips but don't have everything converted yet.
1 PP 2012 has a content directory
2 that is where all the stuff is supposed to be installed
Make a PP2012 content Folder
then create a Poser.exe file in the PP 2012 folder by making an empty txt document and rename poser.exe
now try installing there
Correction Find the Content folder

So is that TTFN or TANSTAAFL?
if you create the poser.exe text file in your content directory then it should recognize that directory as being correct. You're just "tricking it" into finding the right directory. The installer is looking for a poser.exe file, but it doesn't exist for poser pro, so you have to make a fake one for the installer to find.

Ok, so when you installed pp2012, you dindn't install the native content. So once you get your content installed, creating the poser.exe file in your content directory should work for you.
Apparently the recommended method for P9/PP2012 is to install the content in your My Documents directory, so you might want to do that while you're at it.

The problem is the missing dzinstall.ini file - you need to create one before some isntallers will run. You hae two options - run an installer that creates the file if it's missing (Emotiguy works) or use a text editor to create a new, empty, file called dzinstall.ini in C:Program Files (x86)CommonFilesDaz

Thank you for that tidbit, Richard; I have used the dummy Poser.exe trick since the first Poser Pro, but I was unaware of the dzinstall.ini trick. (I have Emotiguy.)

I'm sick, cranky and patience is quickly ebbing. Computer is acting like it may be in its swan dive, so after loading Pro2012 onto hubby's laptop (outside of Programs) I tried to install V4 (even redownloaded just in case) and get error message about x86. Well, Poser isn't inside x86 but V4 doesn't offer a way to install it elsewhere. I thought DAZ was going to make everything zip files and simplify life? Anyway, does anyone have a workaround for this dilemma? Win7 64 bit. Public or private message is fine and big thanks in advance (I just want to get back into bed). :( p.s...searched DAZ Knowledge Base and clicking answer links sent me straight back to the DAZ entry page.
