I recall it looking like groups of extruded letters separated by horizontal slabs, on a sort of art deco style ziggurat base, and of course the klieg lights. But I also vaguely recall sometimes seeing a more extensive building complex below it. How much of this thing would you need?

If you can convert one from blender, then just type in "blender 3d 20th century fox logo" into google. There are quite a few, also some of the youtube videos have links to various blender models of it.

Another member had a max version which she kindly converted for me. I dropped it into Poser and it works fine.
I have no particular image in mind for it, it's just one of those things I find inherently interesting.

Not too difficult to make a box and steps arrangement. How adept are you at modelling? If it's not within your scope I can bash something out for you.

Yup... I could do I'm sure... and I should... just being lazy... and hoping there'd be a nice ready-made kicking about. LOL ;-)
I've modelled a bit since getting Hexagon earlier in the year... indeed I'd been tinkering with Shade Basic and Blender prior to that... and then, in fact, I spent a fair bit of time making this spaceship at that point, in Hexagon:
...a pretty large and elaborate model to try more or less starting with! I totally bodged it together really... and it has, so far, definitely proven over-ambitious
It was a good thing to try to pick up a few techniques doing though... and moreover discover what didn't work or shouldn't be done, to some extent. I got totally stuck with it around the point I got it looking like this Vue test render though... still got a lot to do on it and no idea where to begin UV mapping or anything like that... LOL.
It also looks pretty bad imported into Poser. Smoothing / hard edges don't work right or something. Vue seems to deal with my probably dodgy mesh better... :lol:
Probably needs binned and started again from scratch once I know more what I'm doing...
So yeah, modelling a box platform and the wooden steps would probably be a better, more appropriate, fresh-start point for me, on the learning-to-model front...
If you don't mind giving me some pointers when I get even more stuck with doing the basic box and steps though... that'd be great
Haha. I made my first Dalek after playing around with Wings for a couple of weeks. It was pretty bad and subsequent versions have been complete rebuilds.
As for the box and steps, if you're serious about needing help, bevel all the edges and split the verts. Belt and braces approach but it does make the model look cleaner and render much better, IMO.

Not so sure I understand what you mean in terms of splitting the verts, if I'm honest. It may make more sense to me with Hexagon in front of me... I'll get back to you on that one
I bevelled too late (and too erratically) I think on that ship... which, at least in part, got me into the mess I'm in now with it.... LOL. But hey I hadn't even found the bevel tool until the point I used it at...
Anyway, I should be safer wielding the bevel tool near a straight forward box shape... I guess. He he :laugh:

You'd split the vertices in UVMapper. It has an option specifically for that.
Ah, regarding "bevel"...
I think we may be talking at cross purposes here. Bevel in the modelling sense doesn't mean an angled edge or chamfer. It means an extra row of verts near the edges of whatever shape you're making. It helps to force Poser into making sharp corners. Yes, you can just get away with using the crease angle option but it's a good idea to do the model correctly in the first place.
Just as confusingly, a Bevel tool usually does create a chamfered edge. The simplest way to do what I mean, for Wings at least, is to use the Inset command. It's not particularly efficient because it can potentially create an inset section for every single poly but for a cube where a whole side is a single poly, it's as good as any other method.
If you take a look at any of my models where there's an angled section - the claws for example - you'll see the edges have the extra rows of polys. It's that which keeps 'em from looking half melted.
