Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Nov 21 6:06 am)
Quote - Have not thought about it that way. What is the difference between sidegrade and upgrade? If I get Poser Pro 2010 can I sidegrade to 2012? Kinda confused sidegrade upgrade thing...lol. Thank you and take care :-).
An upgrade would be from Poser Pro 2010 to Poser Pro 2012 for example. A sidegrade would be from Poser 9 to Poser Pro 2012.

This link should help:

Biggest downside to 2010 is no support for Weight Mapped characters...like WM v4, etc.
Well...SSS and more as well, LOL!
Actually, IMO, a sidegrade from P9 should be cheaper, cause you get less features and reason to upgrade....but it does not work that way.
Which is slightly aggravating, since someone can get P7 at a real discount at this point can spend as much for 2012 as someone who has been buying P7/P8/P9 upgrades...
Seems like a P9 to P2012 sidegrade wouldn't cost as much, due to the amount of features you are getting, versus a P7 user.
Like a "Go Pro!" sidegrade sale
P7 -> 2012 = $149.99
P8 -> 2012 = $129.99
P9 -> 2012 = $109.99
(I think I complained about this already somewhere, LOL!)
...but for those who can take advantage...get P7 for like $45 at Amazon, then sidegrade for $150 and save even more!

It's in the Poser 9 Thread, but since it may be lost to some, figured I would mae a thread/post:
Buy Poser 9 for $64.99
Sidegrade 40% off Sale for $149.99
Total = $214.98
(...that's like %57 off Poser Pro 2012, where the sale for Poser Pro 2012 direct is $299.99, which is only %40 off)
I have not tried it, but it's 2 seperate purchases (not like stacking coupons), so not sure why it would not work?
