Hi John, What you are describing is a work flow issue. As each object is completed, it's best to immediately assign it a shader. (While it would be nice to group objects and drag a shader onto the group, Carrara obviously doesn't allow that.) However, once you have assigned a shader to all of the objects, any subsequent changes you make to the shader will automatically update any object that it is used on. So how do you assign a shader to a bunch of objects now? If they are so close together that dragging a shader onto them is a problem, try using the property tray. There is a pull down menu that allows you to select any object in a scene by name. Then immediatly below that is another pull down menu that allows you to select a shader for the object. It still might take a little time but is workable though. I'm not clear on your replicate issue. What do you mean by using a pattern? Mark
Hi all, When i want to add the same shader to several objects in a group, i usually jump in the group, grab the shader to one object and use the eyedrop tool to apply the shader to the other objects . This is the fastest solution i've found . But i'm still often frustrated to be unable to apply the shader simply to the group .

I have tried to find a way to apply and/ or change a shader for multiple objects. If you select them all and group them, you cannot drop a texture on the whole group. If you simply select a set of objects (without grouping them) you also cannot just apply one shader to all of them. Help? Another puzzler, why is it that you can only replicate ( and use a pattern to position) in the vertex modeler? The assembly room could use this functionality. John Jacobson
