Subject: I can't get my money back from Daz...

UHF ( ) posted Wed, 11 July 2012 at 12:02 PM · edited Sat, 11 January 2025 at 5:44 AM

I've been trying for a month to get my money back from Daz for their busted broken abnoxious Platinum Membership.

They are now deleting all my posts at Daz... and with holding payment. I view this as theft and censorship.  Its a disgusting business practice.

At this rate I will be forced to contact the US Marshalls.  Doesn't Daz know that selling a service internationally, and then refusing service is called wire fraud?

Did you take advantage of any of the benefit of the Platinum Membership, before trying to cancel?  (i.e. purchased anything at a platinum member discount)

Yeah I've noticed the mods are overzealous with deleting criticism of their beloved Daz. They seem to be somewhat cultish.

How did you pay for your platinum club subs? If it was by credit card you could raise a despute with your credit card company because you've not received the service you've paid for.

You could also file a complaint with the BBB.

I think if you bought just one PC item at the discounted rate during your membership, you've received service and your claim is baseless.

I'm thinking you'll have to be patient on your claim as I'm sure they don't give you a time frame on refunds.

I haven't done a thing since my account got dicked around.

But you still received service, so there's no claim of fraud.

They got time for censorship but not resolving issues...  An excellent sign of quality.

I just noticed that they closed the help request.  This is after offering me CASH TO STAY, and me saying, NO I DO NOT WANT THAT!  (Renegotiation after failure to deliver on a contract is also clear clear admission that they have failed to deliver on their promises.)

Yes.  I'm so mad I don't want free money.  I just want to get my Platinum money out and get away from Daz.  In a couple of months when things start working again... perhaps I'll wander back and pay the full $100 for a renewal.

In the mean time I refuse to be a guinea pig. It is rude and disrespectful of Daz to do this.  The way they are handling it now... Is not endearing them to me.

What service?  Let be clear here.  I paid... nothing worked.  I want out.  Its clear.

So are you saying that I got Platinum service while my account clearly stated that I was not a platinum member?

I paid.  I got nothing.  I'm getting dicked around.

I went through similar with GenX.  I was really hoping to get that on sale, and finally got it, then it was a LOOOOONG time and no activation code?!?  Finally, I just got mad and said forget it, give me a refund.  Guess what?  Surprise, we have just found some activation codes, LOL!  I still decided to take the refund.

...but, from a neutral standpoint on your issue.

I don't know the details, but lets say you bought a 1 year membership at $100, and used it for 6 months, then they screwed it up...I could see a $50 reimbursement, or something similar.

On one side, you got benefit, on the other, you did not get full benefit as promised.

I would take a step back, have a cool drink, and then work with them a little.  They screwed up, but it sounds like they are trying to work it out with ya, at least.  That's more than you get sometimes in this world!  :)

Good luck!

Oh, if you bought nothing at the Platinum price, then I agree...you should get a full refund.

There's no freedom of speech on private websites, unfortunately. When you sign up for a forum you agree to certain terms of service. Doing something that violate that is subject to deletion.

So help me understand. The title of this thread is "I can't get my money back from DAZ", but they offered you money as resolution and you refused. Then you create a thread claiming wire fraud because you didn't get money. Is that correct? To me this thread is misleading because it sounds like while they have major website problems, they made the attempt to make it right by offering you something but you refused and demanded a refund. And since the processing of that refund hasn't happened in a time to your liking, you made a thread making a claim of wire fraud because they haven't worked with you but in fact you later said they did by offering you money for your inconvenience. There's not really a claim of not receiving service because you can still order and buy PC items from the site (barring glitches which they are working on fixing) with the membership and nothing's preventing you and others from actually doing that. But it sounds like the web site issues are turning you off from ordering rather than DAZ actually refusing to give you items to buy with the membership you now want to cancel.

Please correct me if I missed something.

"I paid...nothing worked".  If that's the case, then he should get a refund.  That's a pretty open/shut case.

That's not necessarily true. The membership is for the opportunity to buy items at a reduced price each month your membership is active. Just because you didn't buy during your membership anything doesn't entitle you to a full refund.

If the contract specifies pro-rating the months you didn't use if you cancel early, then you'd be entitled to that amount. If you're only month to month and you're paid up, then I'm not sure if they'll pro rate partial months.

Years ago I had a membership to a vacation club, but just because I didn't use the service to schedule a vacation didn't mean I could get back my monthly fees.

I disagree, he should get a refund, if he bought nothing, and "nothing worked"

Sounds to me like you need to be a little more agressive in getting refunds yourself! :tongue1:

If you never had access to the members only forum nor the discount on daz originals  and pc items then that is a problem. If your membership was never activated then yes that is a Daz problem. If you signed up but never used the service then that is your problem. I've signed up for services and then for whatever reason never used it but that was my choice and not something that the company should be punished for.

UHF, this is a problem you must take up with Daz as Renderosity cannot assist you with this.

This forum is not for Daz complaints so I am locking it.
