Subject: Scaling conundrum

I've run into a little problem with scaling that maybe someone can help out with, if there's anyone good at math.

I'm scaling a character to 95% of its original size, to refit dynamic clothing, then I want to rescale the clothing back to the original size of the character again..  Problem is I don't know how to get this number.  Anyone good with math who can help me out how to calculate this?

Try 105.5. It'll get you close enough, methinks.

Actually, when I do this, I tend to just eyeball it.

Also, have you tried just scaling the clothing item to the character? That would seem simpler, depending on the effect you are going for.

The maths is to divide the size or scale you want (100) by the size/scale it is now (95) = 1.052631578947368 

(then multiply by 100 if you want it as a percentage: 105.2631578947368, but you should be able the shift the decimal point two places in your head).

...and make sure you go out to the 13th decimal place, 'cause that extra 0.0000000000008 is really what makes the difference!  :tongue1:

Actually, there is no need to scale the dynamic clothing.If a dress fits a figure which is scaled at 100% and saved as a smart prop,then if it is applied to a figure which has been scaled down, it will automatically rescale to fit.

Yep, aware of that. :)  This howerver is a special refit of pants that I have made for V4, that I am refitting to M4 in another 3d program, while preserving the UV coordinates.  I want to present them in normal 100% scale as the props are loaded, with constrained groups intact. This has worked fine, I just needed a formula to get the scaling just right.
