EZSkin v2 is nearing completion.

It requires Poser Pro 2012 or Poser 9 with Service release 2.1 installed to run

Release Candidate 3 of the script (without any documentation yet) is available for download at:

ESKin v2 download

A user guide is currently being prepared with the help of basicwiz.
I'm hoping to release the final, documented version in about two week's time.

If you do decide to try the undocumented script, please post any problems found to this thread. If you make any cool renders using EZSkin we'd love to see them, and might ask permission to use them in the user guide :-)

Thank you,
Snarly

Well here's an interesting effect: slightly soapy skin on V4.

Looks like displacement has gone a bit mental!

I'm away from home and Poser for a bit, but I'll see how I messed up with that when I get home! Is the normal soapy option broken too?

Looks like you have Poser Display Unit (PDU) = PNU, and the displacement amount was supposed to be in inches.

Switch your PDU to inch and try again.

Snarly, all the other effects seem to work OK; BB, my units are metres - I'll see if switching to inches sorts it.

EDIT: Nope, units to inches produces the same result.

Did I do something wrong when I placed it in my Python folder???? It says that V4 is an unsupported figure.

Did you use the import to get the figure from the cfg file?

Yes, check the "EZSkin beta testing notes.pdf".

Michael314 ( ) posted Sun, 22 July 2012 at 12:23 AM

Hello,

sometimes when EZSKin says "unsupported figure" it's due to saving a morph-loaded character back to the library and reloading it. In this case the geometry file name would change. You can see that with the info script. Try loading a fresh V4 character.

Thanks Snarly, for the great work!   I will try the 2.0 version today.

Best regards,

   Michael

Believable3D ( ) posted Sun, 22 July 2012 at 2:00 AM

Figure definitions need to be imported.

I forgot about that, too, and thought the problem was due to my renaming Victoria 4 to my character's name in the Properties tab. But once I imported the defs, all was well.

One of the REALLY nice things about the update is that you can define a figure to apply the script.  The attached render is a draft, but it illustrates how I've used the script to apply a more "skin-like" effect to the V4 wings.  (They were brown and rather ugly before this!)

Here's an updated 'Wet Skin' effects file (remove the '.txt' bit as usual). I think it looks a little better and has reflection too.

Transparency and refraction aren't going ot do any good - what is there to see through the 'water'? There's no skin beneath the water because the drops are just the skin with some bump applied...

I'll do a couple more effects over the next few days.

Release Candidate 4 will be posted soon. I'm letting the beta testers play with it for a day or so first, then I'll let everyone have a go. Hopefully that will also be the final version!

Cheers.

Snarlygribbly I bought a new character from the marketplace here EchuDr by Dinoural,
when I load him and use EZSkin (The new version 2) and I apply a pose to him,
his eyes disappear! I thought maybe it was a problem with the figure, but if I
load him and don't use the EZSkin script he poses fine and no eyes disappearing.
His eyes are there in the zero pose after using the script, but any pose and
poof their gone. Thanks for any ideas on what may be causing the problem.

You're too quick on final. I only just started testing.

On Eyes Tab, in Reflect amt.

*) I cannot type 100 - I have to type 99 then spin up one more step.

*) Backspace key, instead of removing a digit, passes through to Poser and attempts to delete my figure.

Actually seems like backspace does not work in any of your numeric inputs.

Nor delete.

This is weird.

Not only has no-one noticed that in all the testing (!), but that behaviour also appears to be the case in the oldest version of EZSkin that I've kept (v1.0.00 beta)!

At first I wondered if something had changed in a recent build of Poser, but no - in build 16510 with EZskin v1.0.0 the same thing happens.

I'll investigate ...

You missed an update.

That build is SR2

EZSkin now requires SR2.1

It's confusing because the SR2.1 is still called SR2 on SM's website. Just download it and install SR2 again and you'll be good to go.

It's even weirder than that. They don't use the second number.

Release 9, SR2.1 you would think, would be

9.2.1

Nope

It is

9.0.2.XXXXX

Where XXXXX is how many official builds they have done since they began counting - years ago. They have no way to show SR2.0 versus SR2.1 because they refuse to use the second number.

I have 9.0.3.22231

Wow. This is awesome.

Being able to save a preset is excellent... but the new integral figure definitions are so easy to use.

I was able to set up a definition for the mildog, in a scene I'm doing, in about a minute this morning, before dashing for my bus to work.

I would never have gotten round to hand typing the XML for that figure.

I look forward to exploring the further possibilities.

I note it can do hair props now. Which is great. Is there a way of applying it to clothing props and clothing figures too?

Many thanks for all your hard work Snarly. This is fantastic!

Cheers 😉

I was amazed when BB pointed it out. All those hundreds (thousands?) of users and all the beta testing and no-one's mentioned it until now!

My own way of working is to highlight the entire number and type in the replacement value, so I never came across the problem.

So easy to fix too! Doh!
