How do I apply a JPG texture as a bump map?

Online Now!

change the file extension to .bum

I assume you are preparing the texture for use in Poser Artist or Poser 4.0.3 ?

We'll need to know more about your intentions - and please avoid setting your font colour to black, since it's very hard to read for those of us who view Renderosity with a dark background.

Bump maps in the .BUM format are only really useful for Poser 4 and earlier, and you shouldn't just change the file extension even then unless your image has already been translated to the red/green .BUM format. That's advanced Poser 4 voodoo which is more-or-less antiquated knowledge nowadays. :)

However I think you may simply need to know how to apply a bump map in the material room. I've linked to Doc. Geep's Material Room primer - it's for Poser 5, but the basics apply to any later version too.

I appreciate the comments.  After the first I checked and the dungeon props were for Poser 4.  I renamed the JPG and it seemed to work.

Thanks.
