Subject: Help on making outfit

gohanf22 ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2012 at 2:13 PM · edited Thu, 30 January 2025 at 9:00 PM

Okay I know this maybe a stupid question cause most clothes in order to make are done in the cloth room but I have a really big question: is there a way to make fur in Poser 9? Reason why I am asking is I was thinking of possibly doing a Black Cat outfit soon in Poser but I do not know how to make fur although I don't know how to do the Cloth room yet either but I will get to that soon.  Any one know how to make fur?  If you do I would be very appreciative if you could help. Thanks.

Possible to do with displacement in the material room, but I would say the Hair Room would give more satisfactory results.

But isn't the Hair room only for like Hair? lol.  How would that work to do fur for like an outfit?

Take a look at Tiny's work:

They are all made in the hair room.

To do fur you'd basically have to grow the hair on a piece of clothing.

See artbee's tutorials on how to do this. http://www.book.artbeeweb.nl/?p=460 This one is specifically doing clothing but there are 2 before it that might give more intro if you are unfamiliar with the hair room.

For this basic fur bikini (using the DAZ basic wear) I just went into the hair room and selected each body part of the clothing (ie, abdomen and chest on the top for example) and selected  New Hair Growth. Then Edit Hair Growth and chose Select All. Then I clicked Grow Guide Hairs and set the length to .5 (my units are in inches). Under Styling Controls I had a value of 300 for the hair density and reduced the number of verts from 20 to 6. Repeated for all the body parts of the clothing. Applied a fancy texture to the clothing and the hair, simulated it and rendered.

Isn't real life fur made up of short hairs?

Way too many people take way too many things way too seriously.

could you not do short fur like this with shaders?  I'm sure i've seen some fuzzy shaders around

Thx guys for all the help.  I'll definitely look at these tutorials.  Goes to show I need to broaden my range of software big time. Only used to Maya.  I so want to learn as many 3D software programs much as possible. Again thank you guys.
