Hi, you need a larger hard drive minimum 500GB up to 1 or 2 TB depends on the number of programs you are running, so Windows can create the page files  it needs for the programs to run smoothly.

when are you getting a message ?  disk space messages are sometimes difficult to determine.

I have a similar problem, only it's money that I'm short of! 😉

As a temporary measure, see if you can move some data files to to CD/DVD, that may give you enough free space to defragment, which may give you a little more space in you have not dedefragment fro a while. Also empty the Recycle bin, clear your browser cache, cookies, and Windows Temp folder.  See if you can compress some files. Specific to Poser, set your 'Max cached renders' to a low number like 2. Also set a low 'Max undo level'.

Tiger Direct has half a terabyte for $59, and several Terabyte drivers for under $100. (If that's any help.)

If you haven't already, try compressing your Poser files and unless you do poster sized prints of your renders, also reduce the size of your textures.

A figure that's only 1500 pixels tall in your final render really doesn't need several 4000x4000 textures.

Robert_Ripley ( ) posted Wed, 25 July 2012 at 6:21 PM

the problem is not the render... the problem is that i can´t change anything.

for example the texture of a shirt...if i open it choose it for new tex, i can´t confirm it.

it hangs immediately.

i have 20 gb now and sometimes 25 then it works again..but with my older pc it worked with less space too...i don´t get it ;'(

Do you have the latest update? SM does still have it available. If I remember correctly, p7 would hang or crash if your hd was fragmented. If you haven't done so latly, try defraging. I had no trouble using p7 when my old hd was down to 20 gig or less. Also check your available memory. If there is memory swapping, you'll need extra hd space.

You may need more RAM, not disk space.

i have 4 GB RAM, my old pc had less!

i tried poser in the morning at first and it worked again

how do i see how much memory is available for poser?

i will try defrag. too, memtest86 said RAM is everything fine.

infinity10 ( ) posted Thu, 26 July 2012 at 3:07 AM

If you have a 32-bit win 7, you won't be able to access all 4 GB of RAM, even if you have it.  If running windows, look at system information in control panel.

couple of things that havn't been sugested, move your windows swop file to D: drive, that will free up a bit of space on C:  (after defragging D: , defrag C: after moving swop file)

and if you have vista/win 7 you can have a usb memory stick plugged in and use it as an extra swop file, google readyboost for details

Robert_Ripley ( ) posted Thu, 26 July 2012 at 3:25 AM

i got win vista 64-bit

cspear ( ) posted Thu, 26 July 2012 at 4:25 AM

Your PC sounds like it is woefully under-specced for a 64-bit machine. By all means try the fixes suggested above, but you really need something with considerably more oomph in the longer term.

Download "Advanced System Care free" from iobit

Version 5.3 is the latest, or try the 6.1 beta version

Let it run several times in deepcare mode and it does wonders to older or lower end PC's.

I run it on all my systems (7)  to keep them clean.
it was the first app I installed on my i5 quad and my i7 hyperquad also.

You will be surpriced at how much better a clean PC runs.
