Does anyone know if Poser Pro 2010 is compatiable with Mac OSX Mountain Lion?

I saw this https://support.smithmicro.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2350/~/poser-and-10.7.x-lion-operating-system and wasnt sure if this was same for ML or if things were fixed now for ML.

i just instaled the moutain lion, and now in my librarie have the messenge "plug- in blocked " did you fixed your problem ?

bagginsbill ( ) posted Sat, 28 July 2012 at 10:15 AM

Copied from an Apple support forum.

Quote - 1. Make sure to install the most updated version of Flash.  http://www.adobe.com/support/flash/downloads.html

  1. Delete all references to Flash or Shockwave in Macintosh HD > Library > Internet Plugins > Disabled Plugins

Check to see if the version is older by looking at the Date Created sort field.  If they are Flash related and weren't installed today, delete them.

Apparently Apple doesn't feel that asking you if you want to disable Flash is sensible - they just do it.

Sorry I am not following along so well. So do I need to fix the Adobe setting and PP2010 will run fine on Mountain Lion?

And this sort of thing is why I only upgrade my OS when NEEDED. For instance- Vue Infinite 10 did not work well until I upgraded to 10.6.8

So I never even played with the previous Kitty Cat (Lion)- no reason to go kicking Mountain Lion's litter box just yet! :-)

On the other hand- I'm not much on playing with Whizbang OS features-I just use it to run my Apps. And I don't want to find that Poser, Lightwave, Zbrush, etc don't like the newest Kitty.

that's the chief reason trolls hate apple - the strict security protocols that have limited known OS X exploits to less than 100, vs. >1,000,000 for the dark side.  adobe was informed many times about the security problems that flash introduces into everything, but until iOS caught on, they refused to co-operate.  ML is the version that merges OS X with iOS.

grichter ( ) posted Sat, 28 July 2012 at 5:03 PM

Since I travel a lot, I might get ML so I can try airplay mirroring from my laptop to my apple TV in my apartment in China. HBO Go is only available for OSX and  some content in Hula is only available in the OSX version not the iPad version. But first have to get to my apartment later this morning to see whats blocked an what is not blocked here in China.

Otherwise I am like Eric and will stay on 10.6.8 as long as I can cause it works.

PS: I hate gestures on the track pad, and like to listen to the comments when I plug in my Dell 3 button mouse into my Mac Book Pro.

Yeah, Mr. Jobs really, really, really did not like Flash.

That is a shame- so will you go back to Snow Leopard? Pro2010 and 2012 work well with Snow Leopard.

I havent made the upgrade to Mountain Lion yet I've been searching to find out what apps I own are compataible and what are not before I decided to update. Right now Poser is the only one I have that will not run correctly. So Im not sure what I plan to do. I dont use Poser as much as I would like due to lack of time and I am still a noob when it comes to it. I could install it on my PC but its an old computer Windows XP 2Gb of RAM so I'm not sure what I am going to do yet.

"Not supported" does not necessarily mean it won't work. It means that it is not tested on Mountain Lion and if there there should be incompatibilities, there will be no patch released to address them. It might just work on Mountain Lion - it might not.

Which is the best way to do it. Upgrade based on whether or not it is good for your workflow, as opposed to Apple or Microsoft needing a cashflow boost.

Let the pioneers find out what the problems are.  They are easy to spot - they have arrows sticking out of them.

Apple has made it real easy for me - Lion won't install on a boot disc that is a raid volume and ML won't run on a 1st or 2nd gen MacPro unless I hackintosh the bootloader.  I can easily do it, but I really don't need all of the iToy features on my desktop.

So it looks like I'll be on 10.6.8 for a while.

The two most useful things (to me) ML offers, I already have, and not just on my Apple devices - all of them. I have 3 Windows Laptops, a Windows desktop, 3 MacBook Pros, 2 iPads, and a Samsung Galaxy tab. They all have instant file sync, I can text, talk, video conference on all of them, I shared contacts and bookmarks on all, when I web search on any, the same search is on all.

These features are called Skype, Dropbox, and Google, all free.

That's interesting! I have a first gen MacPro- Intel. I absolutely detest Apple doing this.  It is a trick to try and get people to buy a new computer.

A few years previously, I was running a first gen G3 with a G4 processor upgrade. Apple decided that OS 10.3 would NOT install on a computer without a built in USB. USB card.

Someone made a hack that fooled the intaller. As a result, I was able to install both 10.3 and 10.4-which ran perfectly well.

All I know is that I have a legitimate version of Poser which shows nothing but "plugin blocked". I don't care why it's not working, I just want to use the software that I purchased along with the OS that I use. The rest of poser works, just not the library, so I hope that we have a fix coming VERY soon.

Wow, now I understand Job's aversion to it. Thanks jerr3d for the link to that Wired article.

I ended up going to Mountain Lion and so far have not noticed any problems. Library is not blocked out the color picker works so I am good to go for now......On a side note I did lose Dreamweave 8 due to the fact that Moutain Lion does not support PowerPc anymore.
