I'm new to Carrara (comfortable with RDS) and I'm finding the changes are less than intuitive and am hoping you all will help me out. BTW, I'm on a Mac. 1. When I go the model room I'm presented with 4 views. In RDS, one could use keyboard shortcuts for front, sides and back view. These seem to no long exist. How does one view each side and the back. There doesn't even seem to be options in the drop down menus. 2. I'd like the polylines to be black or some dark color, but no matter what I do in the prefs dialogue box, nothing changes them from that hard to see gray. Also, when I choose a view that is not the director's view, I get this see through effect of the inner skirt. Basically, what I want is for it to look similar to what it did in RDS. If anyone can help me could you explain it to me as if you were explaining it to a small child. I'd like to graduate to Carrara, but so far have found it very difficult to work in. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the answer on the views. Duh! Too bad about the polylines, they're hard to see with that gray. As I do a lot of work in the vertex modeler in RDS, I'm disappointed that they would make the polylines with so little contrast. Hopefully in C2 there will be the option to change that. What were they thinking? As I upgrade my Mac, RDS keeps wanting to crash so I had hopes for Carrara. And I can't afford a more expensive modeler at this time. Oh well, I'll deal with the crashing for now. "(not a difficult programming aspect to incorporate)" Easy for you to say. :) Thanks, again.

Just thought you'd like to know...I'm struggling with some of the same things as being un-intuitive and difficult as you. I've never used RDS either. Just seems that a little more evolution for v2.0 would be in order. It is still the best of many I've demoed and a couple I actually (sob) purchased. Thanks, Riv.

Lovely model, by the way! Riv

Riv, I won't say I'm glad you're having some of the same problems, but misery does love company. ;) I'm somewhat disappointed with Carrara. Seems like they added a lot of pizazz and little improvements and took away the features that worked with RDS. sigh ummm...that's not my model, that's Victoria's skirt I used as an example. :/ Guess I should have given credit. Though I do make clothing. Free items are Uthena's dress, Victoria's long dress, and Boots for Michael. Purchasable items are at Daz. Thanks for the input.

It took me several months to get used to the new UI but it does have many advantages. Yhis image shows either the most handy or un-documented newer controls (I'm not sure as I don't like to read through manuals). These work on MAC OS & don't know about WIndows but should be same excepr Alt VS Command etc.

I've used RayDream for years through several versions. I think it is a crime what was done to the program. I have kept and still use version 5.5. For the same reasons listed here (that interface is a royal mess, and I've used Bryce for ages too) I have decided to go with Strata. For intricate modeling it's hard to beat Rhino in my opinion.
