Hello everyone.

I am having a little trouble trying to create "internal Volumetric Lighting" at the moment. I have been following a video tutorial by our "Mark Bremmer" which is great but I keep getting a segmented look in the render as the image shows. I am wondering if anyone can give me a reason why this is happening. I am using carrara7pro, a distant light and hdri map.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi I always use Spot light to get the volumetric effect (called Light Cone in Carrara), that you need to set at Effect tabs for the light source, like in the image.

You can get the scene here:

Thanks for the tip. I there anyway of stopping the cast light from fanning out as I know that natural light doesn't actually do this or to such a great extent anyhow. The spread just seems a little un-natural... or is that just me

I used the Soft Shadows with best quality, maybe you can turn it of or change the Half Angle and Range Falloff to control how the light spread in the scene.

Thanks. I shall give it a go and see what happens.
