Oo now there's a broad question leaving me open to every bizarre answer known to man. :)

Perhaps I should qualify..

Props/Models/Rigged/Animatable/Clothing etc etc the list is endless

I am always trying to figure out what I should attempt to model next, and I thought it would be an idea to see if people thought there was something missing from their runtimes.

I'm not offering a custom service lol, but i just wondered if there was a perception that there was a genre or style of model that would be well recieved.

Call it market research or just plain curiosity, it matters not.....I am really looking forward to see what posts..more fool me :)

Something along the line of a 2012 version of the Casablanca Suit for M3.

nice figure but,

50% of its functionality would be lost in Poser.  a lot of what you are looking at is Max rigging and meshsmooth.

your very first customer comment would be: 'she looks nice but i really hope you can morph away that definition'. since its a normal/disp map you cant: its baked into that exact body type you see unless you strip off the normal/disp maps - in which case its nothing special. just another vicky-esque figure with equally poor bending.

i can also tell you from a morphers perspective that a simple 'quad grid' mesh like that is a real PITA to morph compared to one with topology that flows with the anatomy.

a 7500 poly model would have inferior versatility and morphing potential, and i dont really see the point when weve been happily rendering figures with 10x that vert count for a decade.

ps: its somehow sickly reassuring that even a $1000 figure in a $4000 application looks like ass with its arm raised.

The wayback machine is an unequivocal violation of copyright, but nobody ever talks about taking it down, since the things being redistributed without permission are freebies.

It is a very interesting question. Sorry for the off topic.

The Casablanca suit readme says:

Please do not redistribute or claim as your own.

That seems pretty darn clear instructions from the copyright holder.

In terms of add-ons, character fits etc. the DAZ Morphing Fantasy Dress seems to have been really successful. Maybe make Something flexible and adaptable like that, whether clothing, a car that transforms from a hardtop to a convertible etc.

I vote for a pixie too. Not that I can afford it but I couldn't find a classic 40s-50-s "Woodie" wood paneled station wagon except 1 at da Squid.

Collections of things to fill out a scene. There are military uniforms but I sometimes see people looking for a messkit etc. You have to look everywhere for the little items. A picnic basket with all the food utensils, blanket etc. Things like Terkkie's 'Trash Street', a set of modern medical instruments and accessories for a doctor's office. People keep asking for 'everyday' clothing but if they're doing everyday scenes there are a ton of little things. I don't recall seeing a car with a romovel tire ( and a flat tire morph), a working jaxk lug wrench etc.  Maybe those things are too specialized but I think simply having them could inspire a scene.

What is missing from my Runtime are probably already out there, I just have not come across them and, no, I am not asking anyone to look for them.  What I want:

Children and their props, hair, clothing, etc.  Style, time period, and apparent intellect are not all that important, but, as has been mentioned, sci-fi kids would be an example.

The track for an electric race car set.  I could scale down vehicles to play on it, but am not finding anything that looks like either a Hot Wheels track (track, loops, jumps, etc) or like the old slotted tracks I had when I was little.

Scale model terrain and structures that looks fake, but with a lot of detail.  Not a painted cotton ball, but not photo realistic, either.  And, no, not like some noob got it wrong, but like a skilled artist make it look like that on purpose.

A full scale, multi floom water slide complete with pool, surrounding sidewalk, and water spray props.  A log floom could be a part of it, but I would want people on mats or just their bottoms sliding down the thing.

Real arcade (not video arcade) games such as Ski-Ball, a shooting gallery with the rows of knock down ducks / boats / whatever.

A dunk tank complete with water sprays, little drain spigot, and an articulated target arm so I can change the camera angle and see just how hard the target was hit.

A "test your strength" sledge hammer bell ringing thingy complete with not just numbers on the board but comments as well (puny, he-man, tough guy, etc).

A damn good Haunted House exterior.  It has to look good as a full screen establishing shot as well as showing sufficient detail while standing on the porch.

*  *  *

Most of these probably already exist, but these are what I want and would use before year's end.

I know it ent really in yr field, but as ya said "I'm sure that there will soon be vendors and freebie makers reading this thread with some interest , at least there should be"

I'd like a script to turn "normal" conforming clothing into "Superconforming" clothing; i.e: automatically adjusts (available) morfs to match any that are already set in the base figure.

As for props/ items/ stuff... I was playin' 'round recently doin' a Superhero series of pics & discovered that Animotions (THE site fer all yr superhero needs) seems to have gone the way of the Dodo bird. So I'm tinkin' purdy much anythin' in that genre would be quite well recieved by many newcomers to Poser/DS as well as those "vets" like myself who figgered "That site'll be there ferever... I'll get what I need when I need it". Personally, I could use a "Spidey" type full head mask fer V4 at the moment.

I agree with lmckenzie. Lots of little stuff missing or hard to find.

Things I have had trouble finding recently:

Dogtags (for soldiers), flower bouquets, dead flowers, broken or rusty household or industrial things, lightbulbs, clothing hanging on hangers, file folders (empty and with papers in them), dead insects, dead rodents or other pests, animal skeletons, some really good spiderwebs... I can't remember most of my searches. But several times I've bought an entire set just for a single prop. Of course, these are niche type thingies. Not sure how well they'd sell...

Mystic Nights has a pretty good free item search though I just found a dead link there:

http://mystic-nights.com/directory/index.php

I agree that it would be hard to sell stuff like that. I suspect not that many people are including the little details that can really make an image look more plausible. We're surrounded by stuff inside and even outside. There are plenty of houses and some patio furniture for example but something like a hose reel would probably be harder to find. Many such atems are available but you have to search the web and be willing to import/convert from other formats.

Ooh. Thanks for the links!

You're right. You can find a lot of stuff if you know where to look. I should have asked in the forums earlier. :)

ETA: I guess for the sake of sales, maybe the key is to find a popular niche theme and see what's missing.

For instance, lots of post apocalyptic ruins and war ruins. Not very many destroyed vehicles. Lots of rubble. Not many destroyed possesssions, like broken furniture/household goods.

And yes, you can probably find much of that stuff here and there for free. But the difference in quality (usually texture quality) is sometimes too noticeable, and in those cases, I'd rather pay for something a bit better.

Yup, second this request... specifically 70's and 80's British cars, would be great... if you ever felt like tackling some vehicles Mystic 😄

A Vauxhall Viva would be great. If you fancied fitting it with some geometry switching to modulate HB to HC models, that'd be very cool...

NanetteTredoux - for that I think youd be best off asking EmperorKen directly. Its possible that by taking the existing ibis and applying some of the built in morphs and a new map you may be able to make the species you need.

I would like a conforming lion style mane for M4 and steampunk furniture in solid victoriana style.  I would also love a victorian holiday drawing room, complete with victorian trimmed tree.

And some fairtytale , Grimms story style, characters for m4/v4 - quaintly ugly sort of thing

I've been thinking about some of the comments referring to wrecked spaceships, vehicles etc, and I Wonder whether the problem is that freebie makers in particular would be loathe to spend hours modelling a great vehicle/spaceship/etc, uv map it, then basically trash it.

As far i can tell, and i'm no experienced uv manipulator, in order to say get a decent texture map on the inside of the vehicle that would look good when the vehicle is wrecked/trashed exploded etc, ie dashboard poking out, seats squished, you would need to model a good undamaged model first.

From a commercial point of view, would it therefore mean that the market place vendor would be loathe to spend extra time deconstructing something that they could in all honesty charge less for becuase it was trashed....I can't imagine many people would be willing to pay more for a wrecked item than for an intact one?

If that was your workflow (e.g. build it intact, then modify that to make it looked wrecked) you could sell both intact and wrecked versions... possibly charging a little bit more for the one pack?

Or sell each separately, for the same total... or even a little more possibly?

I suspect having both intact and wrecked versions would provide more value for a lot of folk making renders... especially those rendering narratives, e.g. comics etc.

Also not sure it would be of less value if it was wrecked. It wouldn't be if a wrecked vehicle was what the marketplace buyer had a demand for.

e.g. Stonemason has a wrecked car...

The unwrecked version is included as a bonus...

Sell both then!

Many people would buy them as a bundle, I'm sure.

By selling both the effort involved in creating the unbrokem version is rewarded.

We need a way to be able to rent virtual sets. Hollywood's probably already doing it. Grab a professionally set designed spaceship interior, 1950's living room etc. with all the little touches, the ability to add your own custom textures etc. for fee less than buying it and less hassle than running around looking for pieces. Technical challenges and may not economically viable but it would be cool.
