I use "inflate balloon" rather than "inflate" because it runs a micro polish sequence after each inflation. I do them in very small increments like .03 at a time to just bring the texture up to the level where I want it. The micro polish seems to help keep things from getting too ragged and helps to produce a more natural texture

She looks a little like Kelly Bensimon. ย I think she is fantastic. ย Looks very original. ย I like her eyes, and her cheeks. ย The only small critique I could give is that her lipstick doesn't cover all the way to the bottom of her lip in the OP. ย I don't know if this is something you have fixed since then so if so just ignore. ย Usually lipstick extends even a little bit off the lips IRL but never ends before the lip ends.

Very good work, a strong identity in the face. I like the large eyes and strong cheekbones, and the face that looks "lived-in". Can we see her smiling?

personally, I would go for less symmetry, and less perfection in the textures. In the eyes, I think the pupils are a bit too large. Identical eye-reflections reveal the artificial nature of the character, so you might elaborate on that a bit as well. Devil is in the details, as usual.

promo looks pretty good, though, worth the effort. Looking forward to more.

I would use another hair prop for your promos. Even better, a hat or some such head prop so the hair does not detract from your work. How about a nice Zbrush scalp displacement with a morph to simulate hair as an option? Also, I'd add in a low level Ray Trace light to clear up the shadow mess around the eyelashes and hair caused (I'm guessing) by emitter props. She comes across as heavily mascaraed and perhaps not your intention. Iris reflections bug me. I'll assume it's the emitters again. I use dedicated emitters (60% spheres 2-5 ambient, non emitting, no shadow) set next to cam for eye specular. Then panels set off camera for light...

Also,,, if you are offering a FBM, you might as well have your own joint fixes that work correctly for the body shape. Good selling point.

From what I can see, I think the figure looks very nice in practically every aspect. The only thing that I thought detracted was the eyebrows. They seemed to be flat - someone mentioned this earlier. Maybe adding some type of bump map would help there.

I'm not sure if you would want to consider using the eyebrow portion of the figure added in V4.1 and later IIRC, instead of placing it directly on the face map, since that would allow for easier change to the eyebrow color.

I think that, on the same note, and if it even applies, it would be good for the drapes to be able to match the carpet....

That's just my 2 cents.

I'm working on getting her finished up as we speak. I have some more joint morph fixers to do (doesnt take long) (promo renders to do) and the packaging, I have Dr Phils programs for creating cr2's and this is my third product Ive put up for sale, so Ive done it before. I tend to be rather slow but I'm hoping in a week or so. Hopefully 2 weeks at the most. All my jpg maps are finished and in their correct location, all shader/materials are done and in their correct file structure, so almost all the work is done.

Did you have "light emitter" off for all skin? The shadows look very dark...

Yes, I have had mixed results with turning on light emitter for skin. It tends to cause areas to "glow" and I just havent generally been very happy with the results, (although in the above case it worked ok) I also dont like "gamma correction" I think it washes out the skin color and details. I like the darker shadows, I guess I tend to like the more "dramatic look"

To my eye the darker shadows help define form and texture, but of course as individuals we all have our preferences

Gamma correction, in a way, is a contrast dial. If you want more contrast, it's perfectly correct to set the value to something lower than 2.2.


Renderosity forum reply notifications are wonky. If I read a follow-up in a thread, but I don't myself reply, then notifications no longer happen AT ALL on that thread. So if I seem to be ignoring a question, that's why. (Updated September 23, 2019)

I'm going to include a couple of hair maps to use with Kozaburo hair, the dynamic bikini shown, and I think a couple clothing base mesh's for dynamic clothing that fit her. Ive already made them and it would make it easier for someone to make clothing if they wanted too.
