When you say DTE do you mean the Deep Texture Editor you make bryce textures or do you mean import texture into Bryce as a psd or jpg file? If you are Having Trouble with the Deep Texture Editor that makes the Bryce only made textures What I would do is Unistall Bryce Completely from your computer(Back Up your work first particualary if the are in the create section you can do this by click on the object and saving as a .obp file. if it is the 2d images then I have one question do you like me use Apple Mac? Because there is no point doing so in Bryce 7.1 Pro as the images will come up blue and then crash(Bryce is not as good on mac anymore.) But from what you are saying it sounds like the Deep Texture Editor Type problem So Maybe the problem what you may need to do is once you have the two textures in Bryce together save them as a .matt file and use them that way also if this doesn't work Try reinstalling Bryce.

I am sorry I can't be of more use Good Luck.

When working with images in mats things have gotten buggy with b7.  Is this happening while trying to create in DTE while working on the same scene file or have you tried starting an new project then go to that DTE procedure with a new/fresh file?  Sometimes a scene file gets corrupt and causes wierd things.

A reinstall would be a super task.

I'll do it after dinner today getting frisky to try

I know that in earlier versions of Bryce, it does not like long file names.  If your jpg has a long name, try shortening it.   Also it may not like overly large jpg files.  I've run into both those issues in the past.  Don't know if it's still that way or not...

Thats a great idea BecSchm its also true wish I had of thought of that Bryce doesn't like long names which is a shame so maybe just call the texture texture 1 or 2 its the same with the bryce it will log this message if it doesn't like the name (An object is missing continue loading without it.) If this happens when you drag a model into the create bar the only way to stop it is to either terminate the program or keep pressing enter until it loads and will be a while.
